Indict the guy but don't tell him what the charges are? Welcome to New York City, Donald...

For TJ....

The guy on the left - my right - with me at Doochary Falls earlier this year is my Brother Tom. He passed away yesterday. There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled...

The three Jackson Brothers in the surl in North Wildwood, New Jersey, summer of 1954. That's TJ in the front with the white trunks on.
His funeral is in Belfast next week, so posts are going to be spotty - at best - for the next two weeks.
At some point I hope to revisit the falls and maybe stop in to The Corkscrew and hoist a pint in his name...

That's fine - I don't shop there anyway...

Sprouts is the kind of store I wouldn't go in to only because of the other people who do...

Sprouts is planning to eliminate single-use plastic bags in all of their stores across the nation. The giant grocer will also stop providing paper bags.
Sprouts stores are already canceling the bags as 132 of its California stores are free from single-use plastics. The grocery chain has about 380 stores across 23 states and plans to remove more than 200million of the bags from circulation each year. Sprouts will offer its customers reusable bags made from 40 percent post-consumer recycled material - but at a cost.
Ya see - I don't have a problem with an independent retailer making a decision like this because we have the power to decide for ourselves if we wanna shop there or not. Shit, Aldi has never provided bags as far as I know, but I know that's one of the ways they keep their prices down, so I'm cool with it.

What I'm not cool with is when the government gets involved in shit like this - like in NJ where the State passed a law banning the use and ditribution of paper and plastic bags statewide. That became a clusterfuck of global proportions. I have friends who've admitted having 30, even 40 of those 'eco-friendly' reusable bags at home now.

And this is how they make fun of their own stupidity.

Florida’s Republican-controlled legislature has passed a bill to allow people to conceal carry loaded guns anywhere — with or without a permit.
The bill, which Gov. Ron DeSantis has indicated he will sign, loosens the state’s already minimal gun laws, removing a layer of background checks, licensing and firearm training.
In recent months, DeSantis has called the bill “something that I’ve always supported.” If he does sign it, Florida will become the 26th state to have such a law.

Of course they're from Jersey...

A buddy of mine and his girlfriend came down and hung with us for a coupla days a few months ago. While they were here we went to Publix and WinnDixie and WalMart a coupla times, and every time we did we'd snatch a shitload of plastic bags fro the cashier's racks for them to take home with them 'cause she has a dog, see? They didn't think about THAT when they banned the bags, did they? She probably had a 100 or even more in her luggage when they split.

The funniest thing I thought about when I first saw this was the inclusion of the Temple Bar in Dublin. Prides itself as the 'oldest bar in Ireland' or some shit like that. It's owned by Russian Mafia guys.

Gone down the road...

Cat shit is the new villian in California. You can't make THIS shit up...

Toxoplasma is often found in cat feces. Otters, which live along the shoreline on California's Pacific coast, can be exposed to the parasite in rainwater runoff – all four cases scientists studied came in during the heavy rainfall season.
Toxoplasmosis infection is common in sea otters – which have a roughly 60% chance of being infected in their lifetimes and can be fatal, but this strain is of particular concern.
People get paid huge salaries to study this kinda shit. Think about that.

The truth about Tik-Tok and why we shouldn't care...

Look in your wallet. Check the number of 'club' cards you have.
WaWa, Sam's Club, Dunkin', Texaco, - you name it - everybody's got 'em. Everybody and their siter is tracking what you buy and where and how much. You don't think twice about using your credit cards - and what you use them for. And your smart phone? That fucker's a lot smarter than you think. It knows where you go and when, it knows what you're looking at and why.
Our society today is totally immersed in data-collection gimmicks and gadgets, so why is Tik-Tok such a concern? We're all members of the 'Data-breach-of-the-day' club anyway. Shit gets stolen and misplaced and used improperly every day. We get used to it.

Who gives a shit if a couple hundred million morons here in the States wanna waste their time watching reels about people winning on slot machines, dancing like dooshbags or falling off the roofs of their houses? Honestly - we got much bigger fish to fry.

Get over yourselves...

Sure, I left New Jersey for Florida, but it's not just me...

WealthManagement.com - Homebuyers are still fleeing expensive cities like New York and San Francisco for sunny skies and cheaper homes in Florida, undeterred by rising mortgage rates.
Among the 10 cities that are seeing the highest net inflow of house hunters, half are in the Sunshine State, according a report from real estate brokerage Redfin. New York was the top out-of-state origin for buyers in three of those Florida cities: Miami, Tampa and Orlando.

Although the overall number of buyers looking to relocate is down compared to 2022, those who are picking up and moving are more likely to be going cross-country than house hunting in their current metro area. The number of people looking to move to a new city fell 3.6% in February from the same time last year, while those looking to move within their current metro dropped by 14.4%.
The cities with the highest net outflows came from the country’s most expensive housing markets, including San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. Redfin defines net outflow as the number of Redfin.com home searchers looking to leave a metro area, minus the number of searchers looking to move in.

While rising interest rates have driven up monthly mortgage costs by nearly 20% compared to a year ago, that may not deter home hunters who feel they’re getting a deal in more-affordable cities, Redfin said. A typical home in Miami went for $485,000 in February, compared with $640,000 in New York.

Where my priorities are...

Once you take away tuna, what's left?

It's an interesting question, just not for me...

As I may have explained before, I somewhere along the line developed an  allergic reaction to MSG, so pretty much any and all processed food for me is off-limits, so this question kinda doesn't effect me.
I do eat a couple of things like Corned Beef Hash (the low-sodium one), tuna fish, of course - everybody eats tuna, don't they? and anchovies are kinda hard to come by fresh if you catch my drift. But I digress - my question is this - do you eat any of this stuff? I did when I was in my early teens, like when we were at Boy Scout camp or hiking and shit like that, but never as just a go-in-the-pantry-and-see-what's-there kinda snack.

More tax fuckery in the land of fruits and nuts -
and unintended consequences...

Celebrities including Jim Carrey, Britney Spears, and Kylie Jenner are reportedly scrambling to sell their multi-million-dollar mansions before a city law called Measure ULA imposes a four per cent transfer tax on property sales over $5m and a 5.5 per cent tax on sales over $10m, to be paid by the seller.
Officials estimate that the so-called "mansion tax" will raise around $672m for affordable housing, hopefully helping to get some of the city’s estimated tens of thousands of rough sleepers off the streets.
They've tried - and failed miserably - many times before to get rid of the homeless bullshit out there, but fuck it, dude - the weather's too nice. If it was shitty like in Northern Cali where it snows 20 feet a day, nobody'd live on the streets.
Read about this and other LaLaLand fuck-ups and acts of pure futility here:

There's not things that I don't do now that I did before, whether it's physical or mental—or anything else."

Dear Miss Spirinac -
You are making a fortune by doing not much more than letting us ogle you in your tight outfits, highlighting your huge tits and nice ass. Yes, you can hit a golf ball, but basically you're nothing more than mental masturbation material to us, so cut the shit and shut up. There wouldn't be any 'disgusting rumors' if you were flat-chested and ugly. Grab the dough while you can - before those beasts drop down to your navel - and shut the fuck up. Sincerely -
All men.

We were fucking around at the bar last night talking about  which famous people we'd like to get drunk with, and both of my buddies said - almost in cadence - 'Ernest Hemingway'. Okay, I get it if you'd never wanna get a word in edge-wise, but my choice was this magnificent bastard. Neither one of my drinking pals knew who Jackson Pollack was.
