I hope it's all sparkly and shit...

Happy New Year from Lt. Dan...

No explanation needed...

Florida Man stories never get old - especially when there's two of them...

PENSACOLA, Fla. – After two men were pulled over Saturday in Florida for speeding, a state trooper found a bag inside their car with the words "Bag Full of Drugs" printed on the outside. When the trooper peeked inside, he found that the bag was, indeed, full of drugs.
In total, law enforcement seized 75 grams of methamphetamine, 1.36 kilograms of GHB (a sedative), 1 gram of cocaine, 15 MDMA tablets, drug paraphernalia and 3.6 grams of fentanyl from inside the Kia sedan.
"That is not something we see every day," said Lt. Robert Cannon of the FHP. "If the presence of fentanyl, GHB and methamphetamine wasn’t such a serious public health hazard – a blight – then it would be humorous."

When asked if it’s atypical for law enforcement to find a bag of drugs literally labeled as a “Bag Full Of Drugs,” Cannon replied flatly. "Yes," he said. "Yes, I’d say it’s rare."

Even duct tape couldn't fix this stupid one...

2022 was certainly a year to remember for all the wrong reasons, but this girl gets my award for the stupidist stunt of the year...

She wanted to be a cop, but she forgot that one little thing. She did manage to close at least one case - her own!
A fugitive wanted for fraud was busted when she walked into a New Jersey sheriff’s office and asked to be hired.
Zyeama Johnson (Honest to God - I swear they make up these names with the leftover Scrabble tiles), 27, a former Postal Service worker from Jersey City, was on the run for the crime in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, when she applied to work at the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, according to the Jersey Journal.
She sent in paperwork to be a security guard at the law enforcement agency. She was called into the station under the guise of a job interview and arrested, county Sheriff Frank Schillari told the outlet.
After the alleged foolhardy fraudster was busted, the officers allegedly discovered two stolen credit cards and she was also hit with credit card theft charges, Schillari said.

Prior to applying for the job, she was also wanted on 10 bench warrants for failure to appear in court on traffic charges in Jersey City.

Two guys, two guns, two dead guys. Florida men at their finest...

New York Post and other sources - Two Florida men killed each other in a deadly shootout at their shared business. The shooting occurred Thursday afternoon at their business located at 3135 U.S. 92 East in Lakeland, Florida. While the Polk County Sheriff’s Office did not release the name of the business, a Google search shows Service On Site of Central Florida Inc., an auto service business, at the address. The business partners, 31-year-old Akeido Bennett, and 39-year-old Xavier Figueroa, shot each other, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Bennett reportedly died at the scene of the shooting, while Figueroa attempted to leave the business in his truck, but died later from the gunshot injury. “This was an avoidable tragedy stemming from a disagreement between business partners,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “We all have an obligation to our friends, our families, and society at large to talk things out instead of turning to violence. These men would still be alive today, and their families would not be grieving, had they been able to work out their differences civilly.”

Deputies said an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Friday ordered that the maximum cap on the rate of pay for staffers in the lower chamber be raised to $212,000 per year.
The move now puts the maximum salary for House aides at $38,000 more than what lawmakers on Capitol Hill make themselves.
“As you know, our hard-working, patriotic Congressional staffers are integral to the functioning of the House of Representatives: ensuring this institution can effectively carry out our legislative and constituent responsibilities,” Pelosi said in a letter to her congressional colleagues.

“To that end, we must do all we can to retain and recruit the best talent in our nation - and to build a Congressional workforce that reflects the communities we are honored to serve,” she added.

It's just Joe - being the Donald. Wait - WHAT?

The Biden administration announced new testing requirements Wednesday for travelers coming to the U.S. from China — a response to soaring Covid infections in China and a sign of increased worry about the potential emergence of new variants.
Beginning Jan. 5, anyone older than 2 years old arriving from China, Hong Kong or Macau will need to show a negative result from a Covid-19 test taken within two days of their flight. The requirement applies to all passengers regardless of nationality or vaccination status, those connecting through other countries, and people transferring through U.S. airports to other destinations.

In February of 2019 New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed legislation that phases-in minimum wage increases of at least $1 a year every January 1, through 2024. On Sunday, Jan. 1, the minimum wage in New Jersey will go up by $1.13, to $14.13 an hour. The original increase was going to be $1, but the nation’s high inflation rate for 2022 added 13 additional cents.
Washington, D.C., currently has the highest minimum wage at $16.10 an hour. California will raise the minimum wage to $15.50 an hour on January 1.
This issue begs the question - why is it not the market's job to set wages? That is not Government's job, but these days what is and what isn't Government's real job is kinda blurry. Also - the argument that 'you can't raise and feed a family on minimum wage' is spurious at best. I don't need to get in to why it is - if you can't figure it out for yourself, no explanations would help you get it.

Queen guitarist Brian May is now a “Sir.” May, who also has a doctorate in astrophysics and is an animal welfare advocate, received a knighthood Friday as part of the U.K.’s annual New Year’s Honors list. The Queen guitarist, who was honored for services to music and charity, said he hopes the knighthood will give him “a little bit more clout.”
“Maybe a few more people will listen to me than would otherwise, you know, if it’s Sir Brian on the phone,” said May, who spoke to The Associated Press via Zoom from his house in Windlesham, Surrey. He was among hundreds of artists, community leaders and athletes who were recognized on the first such list to be signed off by King Charles III.

First and foremost, I resent it when they say that alcohol is being abused by anyone. Booze is just a vehicle that'll take you to Happytown or Miserable Village, but that's up to you. Don't blame the Boone's Farm.
Another thing that's a definite no-brainer? I go in to a bar and the bartender is wearing a mask? I walk the fuck out, go to the liquor store and buy myself a bottle of Mad Dog and find the nearest park bench. I absofuckin'lutely refuse to be served by anyone who's full face I can't see. Who knows what kinda disgusting shit might be going on behind that mask? Juss' sayin'...

This is an absolutely true story. Got directions from a client to go and look at a project. He said, very clearly, 'make a left at Augustine Drive'.
I turned around and went home.
I never heard back from the guy.

And now they're both dead. And so's that Pope that quit.

So yer sittin' at the bar down at the Legion Post and one of the other members - your friend Dave's - grandkid comes in and he's wearing a pair of these jeans. Got the picture?
MY question is, do you ask Dave for permission first or do you just bitch-slap the livin' fuck outta the kid without asking? It's just a question - the kind we're all faced with every day.

Yes - we're still talkin' about legal (and not-so-legal) weed. You got a problem with that?

New York City's first legal weed dispensary opened to much fanfare on Thursday, but the high is dampened by the fact dozens of shops have already been selling weed across the city for more than a year. Several of the stores within just a few blocks of the first licensed dispensary, Housing Works Cannabis Co., said on Friday that they knew they were operating outside the law - and would continue regardless.
NYPD has admitted that police officers are essentially powerless to stop the illegal shops from operating.
The bizarre situation means that while the opening of the first licensed store marks a symbolic step in New York City's legalization of weed, it seems materially insignificant.
New Yorkers have been able to walk into bricks and mortar stores to buy cannabis since it was legalized for recreational use in March 2021. Many delis and convenience stores also stock weed.

As one unlicensed store worker put it: 'Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck. I'm not gonna stop sellin' smoke just 'cause some jerkoff around the corner has a license to do it. Fuck them.'

First they legalized weed. Now they're pissed off about it. You can not please some people...

Vox.com - According to advocates, declassifying marijuana completely is the only path forward for a legal cannabis marketplace. Reclassifying, or simply downgrading marijuana to Schedule 2, 3, or 4? That would put cannabis on the level of such drugs as oxycodone or ketamine or Valium - and topple any hope for recreational sales.
It has been a tumultuous year for cannabis policy reform in America, with conflicting interests warring over one of the fastest-growing industries in the US. Legal sales of marijuana were expected to top $33 billion by the end of 2022, largely driven by new, adult-use markets in several states, yet cannabis remains illegal under federal law, and thousands of people are still in prison for marijuana-related offenses.
Against this backdrop, one surprising trend is emerging: push and pull among pro-cannabis advocates who say that legalization may not be the right move after all — or at least not the way it’s shaping up. Their concern? Who will actually benefit from a federally regulated industry.

If cannabis is rescheduled under the Controlled Substances Act, regulating marijuana as medicine, it might, advocates worry, allow Big Pharma to control the market. And if it’s legalized at a federal level, some also fear that conglomerates like Amazon could quickly dominate a national adult-use marijuana industry.
So what do they want? Small, local farmers just selling some weed out of the back of their pickup, or do they want a regulated weed economy that will guarantee both quantity and quality?
Why not just shut the fuck up and grow your own? Works for me...

Your daily Doug...

Pot for fun is now available in Greenwich Village. Go figure...

NYC's first legal weed dispensary opens it's doors (at 4.20pm): Hundreds of New Yorkers line the block to get their hands on potent marijuana and edibles at Village store next to NYU - of course...

People are funny - they'd rather pay twice as much for half as much as they can buy on the street - right in front of this store...

Housing Works Cannabis Co. opened in lower Manhattan on Thursday. The dispensary is the first to open since New York legalized weed in 2021. Legal marijuana sales are anticipated to result in $1.3 billion. About 36 licenses to sell have been issued with more stores to open next year.

Hey - I'm not an Aerosmith fan either, but this is crazy...

Daily Beast - A California woman is suing rock legend Steven Tyler, accusing the Aerosmith frontman of sexual assault after he carried out an illicit relationship with her during the 1970s which began when she was just 16 years old. According to court documents first reported by Rolling Stone, Julia Holcomb also alleged that Tyler convinced her parents to grant him guardianship, a ploy that would make it easier for her to travel with the singer without fear of criminal prosecution. The relationship was never really a secret - Holcomb has been public about their time together and Tyler even chronicled the episode in his memoir (albeit without using any names), at one point even mentioning a “teen bride” he almost took. Holcomb, in her lawsuit, argues that she “was powerless to resist Tyler’s power, fame and substantial financial ability.”

It's important to note that the California law that allows people to make claims like this with no time limit expires tomorrow, so if this isn't a money-grubbing scumbag move - irrespective of the validity of the claim - nothing is...
