Even my pedal cars were second hand. My father, being a cop, went to every police auction in our city to buy the stolen stuff nobody reclaimed. I think my first three or four bikes came from there as well...

The evolution of shopping for food during my lifetime. Amazing how different it is today...
• The Self-Service Revolution (1916): Clarence Saunders opened the first Piggly Wiggly in Memphis, letting customers pick items straight off the shelves themselves.
• The Birth of the Supermarket (1930s): Michael Cullen opened King Kullen in Queens, combining massive volume, low prices, and thousands of items under one roof. The invention of the shopping cart in 1937 made it easy to buy in bulk.
• Postwar Suburban Expansion (1950s–1960s): Wide aisles, massive parking lots, larger refrigerators, and frozen TV dinners changed weekly routines as families stocked up by car.
• Barcodes & Warehouse Clubs (1970s–1980s): The first barcode scanned in 1974 sped up checkout and inventory. Soon after, Price Club (1976) and Costco (1983) introduced membership warehouse shopping, and Walmart launched Supercenters (1988).
• Digital & Omnichannel Retail (2010s–Present): Online ordering, mobile apps, curbside pickup, free delivery for Prime members and automated/self-checkout in-store options have made convenience and data-driven personalization central to the trip.
'The Boss' is a jerkoff. Here's the proof...
The 77-year-old guy who used to be a singer but now he's just another big-mouth uber-left puppet took to his X account on today to urge fans to vote for the “doctor” because Bruce thinks the Muslim candidate is “fighting for the Constitution.” “Dr. El-Sayed is a fighter for our American Constitution, he’s a fighter for our American Democracy, and he’s a fighter against the corrupt, lawless, and anti-American leadership currently in the White House. That’s why I’m in his corner 100%,” the Born in the USA singer wrote.
Spring Brusteen’s support comes on the tail of a massive controversy where sitting Michigan Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens not only refused to endorse El-Sayed, she publicly backed Republican candidate Mike Rogers.

Tomorrow, it's all over but the bitching and moaning...
The 2026 midterms have unfolded against a backdrop of polarized messaging. One sign promoted MAGA 2026 while another declared No Kings, reflecting competing visions of executive power and institutional norms.
Franklin's presence highlights how the same questions of self-government that faced the early republic remain unsettled two centuries later. Exit polling itself serves as a modern ritual for measuring whether citizens are still engaged enough to sustain the system.
The cartoon argues that the republic's survival depends on repeated, active participation rather than inherited stability. By showing Franklin returning year after year, it reinforces the adeal that the warning never expires and that each election tests whether voters treat self-government as a living obligation or a settled fact. The poll workers' bemused response underscores how easily the founder's urgency can be reduced to a familiar slogan unless citizens treat it as a current responsibility.
Bottom line? If you haven't voted early, vote tomorrow - whatever side you lean to. Our voices are the only ones that matter. Make your voice heard. Juss' sayin'...
I have one. Works great.
Hats off for this incredible HillBetty...

Having a bad day? Let's turn that around a bit...
Or you can do what I do. Go out to garage, roll up a chubby and fire that bad boy up. Within like five minutes you'll forget what you were bummed about. And you'll also probably forget why you're in the garage. Juss' sayin'...
Reasons why going to college costs so much? Here 50,000,000 reasons...
Florida State fired coach Mike Norvell on Sunday, a move will cost the school a buyout of roughly $50 million that is among the largest in college football history. The firing came a day after a home loss to Clemson.
Norvell won 19 straight games from the middle of the 2022 season through an ACC title in December 2023. But the Seminoles went 10-22 since the start of the 2024 season, and Norvell’s hand-picked quarterbacks - DJ Uiagalelei, Tommy Castellanos and Ashton Daniels - all struggled with accuracy.
Florida State is 1-5 vs. Power 4 programs this fall, including a 36-24 loss to Clemson on Saturday in which the Seminoles were a five-point favorite. The Seminoles have not defeated one of their main three rivals (Miami, Florida or Clemson) since the 2023 season.
Fifty million dollars to walk away? Sign me the fuck up. I could probably lose games a helluva lot better than that guy. Juss' sayin'...
So, I'm not gonna get that Five G's, Donny?
Trump has revealed his plan to stop Democrats from derailing his agenda if they seize control of Congress in Tuesday’s crucial midterm elections. The president, 80, insisted he would still be able to get things done in Washington even if Republicans suffer a major setback at the polls.
Trump revealed he would use his presidential veto powers to block legislation pushed through by Democrats before eventually forcing them to the negotiating table. “I guess I’ll become Mr. Veto,” Trump told the New York Post’s Miranda Devine on her Pod Force One podcast. “I’m not going to let them ruin it,” he vowed.
The president suggested that Democrats would quickly grow frustrated if their attempts to pass legislation were repeatedly shot down by the White House. So, I guess that'd mean two full years of nothing getting done, huh? What a great plan. Gives us something to look forward to...
They're here. No bout adoubt it, the birds have nested again...
As the leaves fall up north, a familiar migration begins, and it is not just the birds heading south. For generations, retirees and winter visitors have packed up the car each fall and driven to Florida to escape the cold. Before the interstates were finished, that meant days on the old two-lane highways, rolling past small towns, citrus groves, roadside stands and motels with glowing neon in the evening.
Many snowbirds came back to the same town, the same trailer park or the same little cottage year after year, until it felt like a second home. Some eventually stayed for good. Those long drives south became a cherished tradition for countless families.
Every year the southward migration starts around October 1st. Now that they're here, they glom our barstools, fuck up our parking, act like they actually own the place, and blind our eyes with their puke-white skin. Their license plates say they hail from places like Minnesota and Wisconsin and other far away foreign lands, and they speak a language almost indecipherable to us native New Jerseyans. But they do pay our taxes to a degree, and the money they do spend stays in circulation here, so I guess that's the tradeoff...

I've enjoyed more than a few 'careers' in my day, which I guess has to do with my inability to stick to anything for to long.
My Father told me more than a few times that the one thing I lacked in my life was, what he called, 'Sticktoitiveness'. That may be true, but prior to moving to the Caribbean in '89, I had been working for about 12 years or so as a graphic artist, illustrator and Art Director at varioius medium- and large-sized ad agencies back in Jersey and in Manhattan.
I probably shoulda stuck with it, but the free spirit in me - I define it as a 'get the fuck outta here' kinda mindset - told me to give my suits to Goodwill and go be a pirate for a while. I'm so glad I did. Juss' sayin'...

James Carville again urged Democratic Socialists to form their own political party and leave the Democrats alone.
There is growing speculation Moderate Democrat Senator John Fetterman may switch parties to the GOP. Nowadays, being a moderate Democrat is like being the least drunk Irishman.

Every once in a while you have to be reminded again of the greatness in some people. The news is so full of conflict, embarrasment, corruption and dishonor it's hard to hold on to your faith in your fellow man. This is Robert D. Maxwell. And this from the Citation for his Medal of Honor:
"For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at risk of life above and beyond the call of duty on 7 September 1944, near Besancon, France. Technician 5th Grade Maxwell and 3 other soldiers, armed only with .45 caliber automatic pistols, defended the battalion observation post against an overwhelming onslaught by enemy infantrymen in approximately platoon strength, supported by 20mm. flak and machinegun fire, who had infiltrated through the battalion's forward companies and were attacking the observation post with machinegun, machine pistol, and grenade fire at ranges as close as 10 yards.
Despite a hail of fire from automatic weapons and grenade launchers, Technician 5th Grade Maxwell aggressively fought off advancing enemy elements and, by his calmness, tenacity, and fortitude, inspired his fellows to continue the unequal struggle. When an enemy hand grenade was thrown in the midst of his squad, Technician 5th Grade Maxwell unhesitatingly hurled himself squarely upon it, using his blanket and his unprotected body to absorb the full force of the explosion.
This act of instantaneous heroism permanently maimed Technician 5th Grade Maxwell, but saved the lives of his comrades in arms and facilitated maintenance of vital military communications during the temporary withdrawal of the battalion's forward headquarters."
Technician 5th Grade Maxwell: We humbly salute you and thank you for your life and your service.

Here ya go. Looks like they're planning to do a sequel of the movie 'The three amigos'. NY Gov.Kathy Hochul stumped with Mamdani and AOC during a Buffalo Bills NYC watch party ahead of the election. Hochul insisted the support of the two lefty figures wouldn’t turn off moderate voters ahead of Tuesday’s gubernatorial election.
But why are they at a Buffalo Bills games? Easy - they're the only actual 'New York' football team. The other two teams who call themselves New York teams actually don't play in New York. They play their games in New Jersey.

I'd like a nice little place in the country, she said...
I've actually been here. About 15 or so years ago Babs and I, along with a couple of good friends, rented a small cottage outbuilding on an estate not far from where this photo was taken. These iconic rolling green hills and stone farmhouse are located in the Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany, in Italy.
The 'Podere Belvedere' is a classic Tuscan stone farmhouse framed by slender cypress trees and winding dirt roads. The entire Val d'Orcia cultural landscape has been a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004 for its harmonious Renaissance-designed agricultural and natural beauty.
