Riding in style...

This station wagon had a feature no one else had ever dreamed of. Ford called it the Magic Doorgate. It had a double set of latches and hinges on the rear 'door'. Hinged at the bottom, it folded down like any tailgate. Hinged at the side, it swung open like a car door, only longer. Ford put it on all of its wagons for 1966, from the Ranch Wagon up to this Country Squire, and Mercury wagons got it too. The man behind it was Donald N. Frey, a Ford engineer and product manager who is also counted among the fathers of the Mustang.
Ford had offered rear-facing third-row seats as an option since 1965, positioned in the cargo area behind the second row.
With the Doorgate, the way back had a door of its own. The rest of Detroit copied the idea and gave its own wagons 2-way tailgates. Ford's big wagons kept the second set of hinges through 1991.
The clever part wasn't just that the gate opened 2 ways. It changed how people used the wagon. Loading bulky cargo was easier with the gate dropped down, while swinging it sideways made everyday access less awkward in tight spaces.
It also worked naturally with Ford's rear-facing third-row seating. Passengers climbing into the back didn't have to deal with a conventional tailgate hanging across the opening. A practical piece of engineering became one of those features people came to expect on full-size American wagons.

A biting overnight chill is about to bring an unwelcome wake-up call for millions of Americans barely accustomed to losing that hour of sunlight at night...

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued frost advisories across parts of eight states, urging residents 'to take steps now' as some regions will see temperatures drop to freezing tonight into Monday morning. The alerts cover portions of Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Ohio and West Virginia, with different forecasts and timings across the affected regions.

We're on the verge of the new Democrat-controlled Senate and Congress attempting to jam government controlled 'universal health care' down our throats, similar to what they have in Europe and Canada. We need only remember what Obama did to the healthcare industry in general to realize how absolutely fuckin' stupid that idea is. Here's some highlights:

Obamacare’s Five Broken Promises That Made Health Care Even Worse
Broken Promise #1 – You Can Keep Your Plan
Up to 9.3 million people lost their coverage during the first open enrollment period. President Obama personally apologized for Americans losing health coverage. Politifact named “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” the Lie of the Year for 2013.
Broken Promise #2 – You Can Keep Your Doctor
As many as 214,000 doctors opted out of participating in Obamacare exchange plans. CNN declared President Obama’s claim that “You can keep your own doctor” false. Obamacare’s website revised and then dropped the section entitled, “Can I keep my own doctor?”
Broken Promise #3 – Your Premiums Will Go Down by $2,500
Premiums increased by about 60% in the first four years. Insurance premium amounts varied in increase from $2,524 for an individual between the ages of 31 and 40 to $12,040 for a family headed by someone over age 60.
Broken Promise #4 – You’ll Have More Access to Care
Hundreds of thousands of health care providers opted-out of Obamacare exchange plans. Studies show that instead of going to a doctor’s office for care, people continued to use emergency rooms for non-emergencies. Over half of the of the uninsured in 2018 were eligible for financial assistance through Medicaid or marketplace subsidies but chose not to be covered. Access to insurance does not equate to having access to care.
Broken Promise #5 – Those With Pre-Existing Conditions Will Be Protected
Obamacare did not protect patients from bankruptcy. Research from a left-leaning organization found no evidence Obamacare reduced the proportion of bankruptcies driven by medical debt.
Obamacare did not protect patients from dying. A 2019 study found there was no reduction in mortality for those that participated in Obamacare, meaning that enrollment in Obamacare had the same impact as having other forms of coverage or no coverage at all.

This whole advertised and promoted 'Gun free zone' thing is virtue signalling at it's worst - and it's most dangerous. Too many times we've seen in the past that that is exactly where a scumbag with a death wish is going to attack, knowing in advance there's no one there who can stop them. The truth is proven out when, just two weeks ago, a civilian with a legal sidearm stopped a mass murder from killing innocent children in a school. When will Libs and lefties learn how truly inane that mindset is? Probably never...

There are few things in the world that taste better than a well-breaded, well seasoned and properly cooked chicken cutlet. This was last night's dinner. I guess I'm just showing off a bit, but fuck me if they weren't outstanding.
Have I ever discussed with  you the fact that in well over 42 +/- years of weddedness, my lovely bride has cooked a total five (some news outlets report the number as six) dinners in that time span?
Yup - I do all of the cooking in our house. I'm following the advice I got from my Mother many moons ago. She said something to the effect that if I do all the cooking, I can control three critical aspects of dining:
I'll know what I having, when it will be done, and what it'll taste like.
Maybe the best advice she ever gave me. Juss' sayin'.

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

DONALD TRUMP: I've been told by my many sources, good sources - they're very good sources - that the chicken crossed the road. All the Fake News wants to do is write nasty things about the road, but it's a really good road. It's a beautiful road. Everyone knows how beautiful it is.

JOE BIDEN: Why did the chicken do the...thing in the...you know the rest.

SARAH PALIN: The chicken crossed the road because, gosh-darn it, he's a maverick!

BARACK OBAMA: Let me be perfectly clear, if the chickens like their eggs they can keep their eggs. No chicken will be required to cross the road to surrender her eggs. Period.

AOC: Chickens should not be forced to lay eggs! This is because of corporate greed! Eggs should be able to lay themselves.

HILLARY CLINTON: What difference at this point does it make why the chicken crossed the road.

GEORGE W. BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either with us or against us. There is no middle ground here.

DICK CHENEY: Where's my gun?

BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with that chicken.

AL GORE: I invented the chicken.

JOHN KERRY: Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it.

AL SHARPTON: Why are all the chickens white?

DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on this side of the road before it goes after the problem on the other side of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he is acting by not taking on his current problems before adding any new problems.

ANDERSON COOPER: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road.

NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's guilty! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.

PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain, alone.

GRANDPA: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.

ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

ALBERT EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?

COLONEL SANDERS: Did I miss one?
