The shutdown was all but confirmed on Thursday, after the Senate failed to clear the 60-vote threshold needed to pass the DHS appropriations bill and lawmakers left Washington for a long weekend without resolving the impasse.
Democrats say they won’t approve more funding until new restrictions are placed on federal immigration operations after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis last month. Democrats demanded radical reforms of how agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operate.
But here's the funny/sad part. ICE is fully funded no matter what the Dims do, because it's funding was included in that Big Beautiful whatever-the-fuck bill thing.
The shutdown effectively closes down the Cyber Security Agency as well. Now'd be a good time for the ChiComs to attack our grid, wouldn'tja say? And - one more slightly off-topic. Why is the Coast Guard under DHS and not the Dept. of War? Juss' sayin'...

ReplyDeletehell, I started to hate the pricks back in the 1980's for the shit they where doing. and even before that I often gotten pissed at some of the bullshit they "passed" in the 1970's. but in the past 30 years or so, they have just stole everything they could get away with and didn't care if we knew or found out. why else does one spend millions to get a job that only pays 174,000 a year ? and they "write off" everything we pay for in real life. so, yeah. I think they should be hated and loathed. your average street whore has better morals than your average congress critter.

Rosie found out what so many others find out. All these other countries have "quaint" attributes, but none of them are the US of A. Every US man, woman and child should get the opportunity to travel outside the US at least once to really learn what they've got.

I still remember being told that plastic bags were going to save the world from over deforestation and the making of single use paper bags (except when paper bags were reused to make schoolbook covers).
