When were the best years of your life?

The graphic shows that most people tend to believe their "best decade of life" is either happening right now in their current age group or peaked during their 20s and 30s.

Key Takeaways from the Data:

• The Present Bias: Each age group heavily favors its current stage of life. For instance, 34% of respondents aged 18–29 pick their 20s, while older cohorts show a strong inclination toward whatever phase they are currently in or recently passed.
• The Youth Peak: Overall among all adults, the 20s (22%) and 30s (20%) are picked most frequently as the peak decade.
• Older Perspectives Shift: Among Americans aged 65 and older, the choice spreads out more evenly, with 17% picking their 40s, 15% picking their 30s, and 15% picking their 70s.

I'd say no doubt about the best years of my (unmarried/still single) life started right after I got out of the Army. The women were beautiful and, dare I say, 'easy? We could travel safely with little or no worries - my then girlfriend and I hitch-hiked to San Fransisco and back just to go to a Led Zeplin concert. That kind easy.
Adventures were everywhere before settling down, and fun and trouble were easy to find. For someone who was voted 'Most likely to not make it to 25' in my High School yearbook, I can't deny it - the 70's did not suck. Juss' sayin'...
