The original 'non-stick' frying pan?

Cast iron skillets are one of those kitchen staples that can last a lifetime…
if you treat them right. A lot of people think you can just wash them like any other pan, but that’s actually how you ruin them.
Here’s the right way to clean and keep your cast iron in top shape: After cooking, let the skillet cool down just a bit (not completely cold). Rinse it with warm water and use a brush or non scratch scrubber to remove food. If something is really stuck, sprinkle a little coarse salt and scrub it out. No soaking and no harsh soap.
Dry it immediately. Don’t let it air dry because that’s how rust starts creeping in. Once it’s dry, rub a very thin layer of oil over the entire surface. This keeps it seasoned and ready for your next meal.
If you take care of it, that skillet will outlive you… and the food just tastes better in it, period.
