Which side of the clock are you on?

There are arguments - some valid, some not, on both sides of this discussion. Trump has revived efforts to enact permanent daylight saving time, seeking to eliminate the twice-yearly clock adjustments that have long frustrated many of us - me especially.. Proponents argue the change would extend evening daylight, boost retail and outdoor activity, and simplify scheduling across states. The proposal carries weight because Trump remains the dominant figure in Republican politics and could influence congressional priorities if his party holds power.
The debate over permanent DST has resurfaced periodically, with past bills stalling over concerns about darker winter mornings, impacts on schoolchildren and farmers, and regional differences in sunrise times. Republicans have historically split on the issue, with some viewing it as a quality-of-life improvement and others warning of unintended consequences for energy use and public safety. The timing of Trump's latest push coincides with ongoing discussions about broader regulatory and time-related policies.
The cartoon argues that Trump's aggressive push for permanent daylight saving time risks harming the Republican Party itself. There is no sound reason for clocks to change now that kids are no longer tending the farm before going to school.
The argument against has kids waiting for school busses in the dark. I grew up at a time when kids either walked, rode their bikes or took public transportation to school. Those things rarely exist anymore in todays' society.
Where do you guys stand on this? For me, I don't like the sun setting at 4:30
in January. Makes Happy Hour gloomy. Juss' sayin'...
