Donald Trump's approval ratings have dropped into territory that historically signals trouble for the president's party in midterm elections. With voters set to decide control of Congress in 2026, Republican strategists face the familiar pattern of the president's unpopularity becoming a drag on down-ballot races. The stakes are high because control of the House and Senate determines the ability to advance or block legislation for the remainder of the term.
The broader context involves a Republican Party that remains closely aligned with Trump despite repeated polling warnings. Past midterms have shown that when a president's approval sits below 45 percent, the opposition party typically gains seats.
The cartoon makes the case that Trump's low standing is not merely a background factor but the central force pulling Republican prospects off course. That cartoon more than suggests continued loyalty to Trump carries direct electoral costs that candidates will pay in November 2026. Another 'wait-and-seeminute. The polls have Dems kickin' ass and takin' names. We shall see...

ReplyDeleteAnd the difference compared to the last two years would be??????
This is a vote for or agains't communism. Never thought I'd say that.
ReplyDeleteAll the usual suspects trying their damndest to make him look even worse. Gas should be coming down due to oil flowing but it sure isn't.
ReplyDeleteI guess it doesn't matter. Neither side will cut spending and do what needs to be done. The trip to hell might slow down with the right running things but it won't stop. The urban leftists will probably riot and destroy shit no matter what side prevails. Maybe this time they will actually take it to the 'burbs and riot there. That will be entertaining, no?
California used to have 20 refineries now it has 6. You can have all the oil in the world but it's no good without refineries. This is on the environuts and EPA.

DeleteTell me one thing affecting the country today that is not 100% driven by Trump himself?
Tariffs, war, Epstein it all starts and ends with Trump.
To the genius bitching about California refineries. How many refineries have shut down since January?
Gas was $2.6 in January and California had the same number of refineries it has today. Furthermore why is diesel $6.5 on the East Coast is diesel there doesn't come from California?
Some people need to get their heads out of their asses!
The left hates him, people on the right are segregated between people who support him regardless and people who say their disappointed, but no way do they vote blue. Popularity polls are more worthless than election polls. We'll see in about two weeks.
ReplyDeleteStart working to get thune fired, show the train's on the right track. That would be a good start.
ReplyDeletewhy yes, i would love the dems to do to the rest of america what they have done to the cities and states they control.
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree with all stated here. I am so sick of breathless texts telling me I need to give yet more money to someone running in a states election I don’t live in. I think they are running an auto pilot somehow. Have to see what happens on 11/4 I think I’ll live that long.
ReplyDeleteThe cartoonist has it backwards. That is the GOP do-nothing Dem-Lite tearing off the cliff dragging President Trump along with them.
ReplyDeleteNot just a vote about communism, but whether the US will reward the use of political violence to achieve political goals. The left complained that the Trump assassination wasn't successful, cheered the assassinations of the Healthcare CEO and Charlie Kirk, and support releasing violent criminals rather than see them deported.
ReplyDeleteIf the left achieves a significant victory in November, I see an increase in political violence unlike anything we've seen since the 19th century.
Doom and gloomier you are, or a lib in disguise. Not going to happen, douche bag dems will control nothing.
