This screencap from my FB wall shows Hurricane Michael, a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane that made landfall in the Florida Panhandle near Mexico Beach on October 10, 2018 - exactly eight years to the day today.
Isaias crashed into the U.S. Gulf Coast late last night as a dangerous Category 2 hurricane, hammering communities in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle with damaging winds, heavy rain, flooding and life-threatening storm surges.
The first hurricane of the Atlantic season made landfall near Destin, Florida, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said. It had maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.
The storm weakened to just below major hurricane status before it came ashore and by early Saturday was no longer considered a hurricane as its wind speeds continued to decrease.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom again called for invoking the 25th Amendment against President Trump, calling him "mentally ill" after Trump's remarks about Los Angeles and San Diego while discussing Iran at a Nebraska rally.
It is not the first time: in July Newsom called a Trump speech a "legitimate 25th Amendment moment." Republicans accused Newsom and other Democrats of a double standard after they defended Joe Biden amid questions about his age and cognitive fitness.

This guy lives in my neighborhood. It's a junker that he slapped together on an old truck chassis. It even has a bathtub in it behind the front seats. It's loud as fuck and cute the first time you see it. After that, it just gets more fuckin' annoying every time he takes it out of the garage, and I think maybe he thinks he's dyin' or some shit 'cause he's had it out a lot lately. Boys and their toys - wuddya gonna do, right?

Did you know back in the 50s you could go from Key West to Cuba on a bus? Back in the 50s, Duval Street in Key West wasn't nearly as bug-out fuckin' crazy as it is today. The town itself was still a thriving merchantile and trading town more so than just a tourist hotspot with fat gay guys running around in g-strings.
I wonder what a turtleburger tasted like. In Key West they were a local food tradition from the 1950s and 1960s, when sea turtles were legally harvested and served in local schools and lunch stands. Turtle burgers cost around 20 cents during that era.
The sale and consumption of sea turtle meat ended nationwide after the U.S. instituted a harvesting ban in 1973 under the Endangered Species Act as sea turtle populations drastically declined.

Willie Nelson Endorses James Talarico in
Texas Senate Race: 'He's a Good Man'
Texas Democratic senatorial nominee James Talarico may be temporarily sidelined from the campaign trail, but his campaign has a surprising new surrogate: Willie Nelson. Nelson, the 93-year-old outlaw country legend with a sideline in leftist activism, posted a short video in favor of the upstart state representative and Presbyterian seminarian, calling him “a good man” and a friend. “Hi, this is Willie Nelson. I’ve gotten to know James Talarico,” Nelson said in the clip. “He’s a good man who will be a good senator for the state of Texas. Please vote, and vote for James Talarico,” he added.
There ya go. Take the word of nearly hundred-year-old stoner and vote for a guy who's personna non grata the last two weeks. Anybody seen him? Beuhler? Beuhler?

The amount of stupidity that was evidenced throughout that whole thing may never be replicated, and thank God for that. Problem is, though, we probably didn't learn a single fuckin' thing from it, and the people who were responsib;e for it have never been prosecuted...
