Even Republicans are guilty...

This is from a front-page article in a New York newspaper this morning. Blakeman, a conservative republican from Long Island, is running against incumbent Governor Kathy (Bucky Beaver) Hockul.
He was in NYC yesterday and made the promise that, if he is elected Governor (which is a HUGE stretch of the imagination), he will work to bring down the cost of everyone's lunch. Just to be clear, he's not talking about baking bread and growing lettuce and tomatoes. It's much more obtuse than that.
Small businesses like delis are hit with hard-to-stomach costs from everything from taxes to electricity, labor, insurance, and rent - all of which “ultimately affect the prices customers see at the register,” Blakeman’s press release said.
He'd somehow magically lower electric bills and insurance. How does he lower rent, and the best part, how does he get workers to work for less money? Ya see? This is all pie-in-the-sky political claptrap. He can't do shit to lower the cost of a sandwich, but he'll stand there and tell you 'Vote for me and I'll set you free' - the same bullshit Pols on both sides have been spewing forever. It's sad, and we're suckers if we buy in to it...

I like that 'flat squirrels' analogy.

Google search that exact phrase - TDS recovery clinic - and you'll see
dozens and dozens of AI-created memes and other shit just like this one is. This must be what so many people are afraid of AI  getting out of control and starting to create stuff that makes fun of politicians on it's own.
AI gets a sniff that Corey Booker mighta scammed the City of Newark out of millions of dollars while he was Mayor there? I guess now that that claim has appeared here and AI has read it, maybe a rogue AI will start digging in to his past and find shit nobody else has previously. THAT is what scares the fuck out of people. Exposure. Personal destruction. Wait and see...

That recent botched execution in Tennessee has intensified debate over the reliability of lethal injection protocols and the competence of state officials tasked with carrying them out. Reports of equipment malfunctions and procedural lapses have prompted renewed legal challenges and calls for greater transparency in how states administer capital punishment. The episode underscores persistent difficulties in ensuring that executions meet constitutional standards for humane treatment.
The controversy occurs against a backdrop of broader questions about government regulation of complex systems, from criminal justice to emerging technologies. Critics argue that human decision-making is prone to error, inconsistency, and political interference, while proponents of expanded oversight maintain that democratic accountability remains essential even when processes are imperfect. Tennessee's experience reflects a national pattern of states struggling to maintain consistent standards in sensitive areas of public policy.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday rejected a bill that would have given the watchdog of California’s expensive, delayed high-speed rail project the powers it says it needs to quickly staff up and provide expert oversight.

The Democratic governor POTUS wannabe vetoed Assembly Bill 1608, which would exempt the Inspector General of high-speed rail from a lengthy job reclassification process for qualified auditors and give it a $1 million purchase authority to avoid drawn-out contracting rules.

Think about the comic genius involved there...

We lost a piece of television history on Wednesday. Italian actor Peppino Mazzullo, best known for voicing the mouse puppet Topo Gigio on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” has died at the age of 100. 'Kiss me goodnight, Eddie...'
