When god gives yoou lemons, you know what to do, but how do you make wine from raisins?

Napa Valley wine growers are struggling to survive as their grapes are left to rot on vines due to demand plummeting. Rancher William Hill opened up about the devastating impact it’s had on his business, saying it is one of the worst downturns in his 50 years in the industry.
He told CBS News: “We left about 30 or 40% of these grapes unpicked. You have these grapes that’ll make this great wine, and instead we’re just going to leave them there, you know, and let them dry up. That hurts. Yeah, that hurts.”
Maybe knows the time to start thinking about growing a crop people need instead of something the French and Italians do better anyway, Mr. Hill.
If you're gonna blame anyone, don't go with that climate bullshit, either. It's your Governator who's made your water too expense for you to water your vines, combined with the lefties trying to limit or restrict - and then tax to tears - people's willingness to buy your product. Keep voting Dem, Bubba. It's a self-fullfilling dream after all, isn't it? Juss' sayin'...

  1. I've bought a few bottles of wine in the last year. The cost versus my memory of some wines I had fifty years ago? The taste wasn't even close to As Good and the cost is currently just painful. 45 years ago I could drop around three bucks on a German import and it was very enjoyable. The 15 dollar stuff today isn't palatable. Aand it tastes harsh, also.

    1. After the huge, devastating fires which wiped out whole neighborhoods in the Napa-Sonoma area about 8-9 years ago, I noticed a distinct and disagreeable taste in the bulk Cabernet from that area. I could actually taste the smoke. These days I stick with Italian Chianti or Pinot Noir from Trader Joe's. It's cheap and drinkable. California ist verloren. Schade.

  3. In the State of Washington, the liquor taxes are now so high that alcohol consumption has drastically been reduced. Tragically, marijuana shops are popping up all over.

    1. Central valley wines have won awards, in France even, beating French wines ... as long as it was a blind taste test. Another dirty secret, at one point the French imported California vines after some natural disaster wiped theirs out.

  5. It's not just drop in demand. It's the never ending onerous regulatory burden being heaped on vintners and other agriculture by the raving insane commie left...led by that massive douchebag GrabEm Newscum

  6. Well, maybe they need to get their prices down to where NORMAL people can afford the stuff!

    1. The state restrictions on water use (and collection) along with the taxes have driven the prices sky high. Maybe pick those grapes, make the wine and sell it for less to a wider audience. A bottle of Napa cab can't cost much more than a bottle of Sonoma or Columbia Valley cab to make.

  7. Wine grapes can't even be sold as raisins because the taste is terrible.
