Fire crews and planes wrestled Monday to bring a monster wildfire under control in southwest France before a forecast jump in temperatures complicates the massive firefighting effort against a blaze that has burned an area four times the size of Paris.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said the fire had stopped growing, a first glimmer of hope since the inferno forced a staggering 220,000 people to flee in the region around the city of Bordeaux.
But with woodlands still smoldering, the minister cautioned that the battle isn't yet won. “It hasn’t progressed during the night,” Nunez said. “We have to remain very concentrated, very determined, to go at any moment.”
To my knowledge, there is no fire-abatement system or program of any kind in France, Germany, Spain or any other part of Europe. They're all adherents to the green-earth, let Mother Nature do her thing kinda mindset, and now it appears that philosophy is chapping their asses. I seriously believe these climate activists have actually done more harm to the environment than any other signal source or cause. What say you?

All those countries listed, and essentially all of Europe, have fire risk and mitigation programs.
France has Défense des Forêts Contre les Incendies (DFCI) a national forest-fire defense program that funds and manages firebreaks, access roads, water points, vegetation management, surveillance, and forest protection infrastructure.
Spain has what is arguably Europe's largest wildfire prevention and mitigation systems. Spain has increasingly emphasized prevention over suppression.
Spain, France, and Portugal are considered among Europe's leaders in wildfire prevention and mitigation, with Spain's regional programs—especially in Andalusia, Catalonia, and Galicia often cited as models for Mediterranean fire management.
