Tropical Storm Bertha was acting kind of pokey last night as federal forecasters warned it should bring tropical storm conditions, heavy rainfall and coastal flooding to parts of the northern Gulf Coast in the coming days. Bertha, the second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, intensified from a tropical depression on July 20, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm was located about 140 miles south of Panama City, Florida, and about 215 miles southeast of Mobile, Alabama, as of the hurricane center's 10 p.m. CDT advisory. Bertha had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.
There are arguments for and against living on or near the coast. Certainly, proximity to beaches and fishing are the biggest, but the choice comes with a whole slew of other issues, not the least of which are how much traffic usually sucks in seaside resort areas, and the genuine possibility of getting your ass kicked by big storms.

The things they pay attention to. Under the dubious headline: Is Donald Trump Shrinking? An Investigation.
The subhead read: Trump accidentally revealed his real height while crashing Spain’s World Cup victory celebration.
For years, Trump has claimed to be six feet, three inches tall. His past two annual physical reports, published in April 2025 and April 2026, confirmed this, asserting that the president is 75 inches tall - equal to six feet, three inches.
But a video shared Sunday on social media by the White House showed Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, the six-foot-three captain of Spain’s national football team known as Rodri, towering over Trump. If both men are supposedly the same height, why does Trump appear so much shorter?
Granted, that bit of nonsense comes from the screwy uber-leftie New Republic website, but even still, doesn't that kinda bullshit take nit-picking to a whole new low? Juss' sayin'...

He said as much again yesterday, but he's never intimated as to whether he'd go Independent or Republican. If I had to make the call, I'd say he goes Independent but won't caucus with either side, unlike Uncle Bird Brain Bernie who says he's Independent but is actually heavily alligned with the loonie lefties from 'The Squad'.

A federal judge on Monday ordered Paramount and Warner Bros Discovery to halt their $81bn merger for at least two weeks, allowing states that are challenging the deal more time to see their case through in court.
Twelve states, led by California, sued to block Paramount’s pending buyout of Warner last week – alleging that such a combination would “extinguish competition” in Hollywood and lead to fewer choices for consumers, particularly moviegoers and cable customers across the US.

Just a little advice for Mr. Trump. Couldja juss' shut the fuck up about what yer gonna do and just do it without commenting all the time? It's not like they're listening to you and even if they are, they don't believe you, so why bother, huh?

So, it's the middle of February and all of us are hanging at the corner and we're bored as fuck, so we jump in Louie Barbini's Buick convertible and go to the Newark Drive In theater to see 'Night of the living dead'. We had a buncha beer and wine and weed and shit and Rennie Mitchell says 'Hey - anybody wanna do some acid'? - to which we all agreed.
So, here we are, in mid-February in a drive-in movie with the top down on the car and we're all trippin' balls and diggin' the movie until from the back seat, Richie DelliSanti says 'Man this movie would be much better if it wasn't black and white.' The motherfucker. I had been watching it in color all along.
Ahh - great memories, huh?

It's legit. A little discovery on it says it was a 'back-end search result' that somebody got looking for the movie - which is not available for streaming on that platform. After the screenshot circulated widely on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and sparked public backlash, The Washington Times and Fox News reported that Netflix quietly removed the controversial blurb from the inactive page.

I think I figured out why so many of today's kids are getting so many stupid friggin' tattoos. Social media has destroyed their ability to recognize their own individuality to the point where puttine bad images of ducks and dogs and random flowers and sayings and other shit all over the exposed parts of their bodies becomes their ideentity. They haven't the self-image and confidence to understand that it's their own unique personality that defines them as individuals. They use the tats to make their personal statements, but the message is - at best garbled - if not completely lost on others.

Every summer, we come back up north from the shore to go to Camp Mohican for two weeks. My father was really big on Scouting and was very involved with both the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts. My Mother was a Den Mother when I was a Cub.
