Karmelo Anthony, a young black man, was accused of fatally stabbing a young white fellow student during a confrontation at a high school track meet in Texas. I guess if it's okay to stab somebody for evidently no reason. WTF could these people possibly be protesting about?
The jury unanimously agreed Anthony was guilty of the first-degree murder charge he faced after just under three hours of deliberation and will decide his sentencing to a state prison later on Tuesday. The 19-year-old broke down in tears as the verdict was read, according to MaryAnn Martinez, a reporter with the Daily Mail who was in the courtroom.
Anthony was walked out of the courtroom where his mother, Kala Hayes, sobbed in her seat. The death penalty has been thrown out in this case as the incident occurred when Anthony was a minor. Anthony faces five to 99 years in prison after being found guilty of first-degree murder.
Karmelo’s mother took the stand in tears as the only witness called on by the defense, saying her son is “very sorry” for what he did before she begged the jury to have mercy.
The ONLY reason people were protesting outside the court was because he is black. No other reason. Who's the racist in that scenario? What a world we live in any more.
Without going too far off track, I'd say that Barrack Obama had more to do with the racial ddivision in this country than any other person in the past 50 years. 'Nuff said...

Deletewell, it like Scott Adams said, just get the hell away from them. I did that years ago. Philly once was a great city. now, it just another shithole dump of a city. some are good people. but they are getting harder to find as there are fewer of them.

chances are he will be a lot worse after his time spent there. most are.
Being "a lot worse" after prison doesn't matter if he never gets released. In my country he'd be out in 10 years so I'm envious of you guys.

DeleteI will not that Anthony was NOT convicted of first degree murder, because no such crime exists under the Texas Penal Code. the TPC classifies criminal homicide as Capital Murder, Murder, Manslaughter, or Criminally Negligent Homicide. Only Capital Murder has the death penalty as a possible punishment.
ReplyDeleteAnthony was not charged with Capital Murder both because of his age at the time of the crime, as well as the lack of aggravating circumstances (murder in the process of another felony, or for hire, or against a peace officer or fireman, or two or more killings as part of the same criminal episode.)
Murder under the TPC is a first degree felony, punishable by 5-99 years in prison.
Avoid them as best you can
