While up in Boston they're handing out free money to the LBGTQ+XYZ craisees, Tennessee isn’t backing down from faith and family values. Republican Governor Bill Lee has signed a resolution officially declaring June as “Nuclear Family Month,” a celebration of the traditional family - one husband, one wife, and children, biological or adopted.·
The new declaration replaces the usual Pride Month focus with a push to honor what lawmakers call “God’s perfect design for humanity.” Supporters say it’s time to stand firm for the family unit that built this country, while liberal critics are already fuming.·
LBGTQ+XYZ advocacy group GLAAD lashed out, claiming the move “dismisses diverse families” and “creates an environment that excludes.”
But Tennesseans behind the resolution say it’s about strengthening community, morality, and the values that keep families strong.·
The measure is non-binding, meaning Pride Month activities can still happen - but Tennessee has clearly chosen to center June around the core of faith and family.
