Reducing the META head count?

Looks like there's gonna be a shitload of bummed-ou geeks heading for the doors in Zuckerland. Meta (Facebook, Instagram, What'sApp, etc.) is planning sweeping layoffs that could affect 20% or more of the company, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters, as Meta seeks to offset costly artificial intelligence infrastructure bets and prepare for greater efficiency brought about by AI-assisted workers.
No date has been set for the cuts and the magnitude has not been finalized.

Top executives have recently signaled the plans to other senior leaders at Meta and told them to begin planning how to pare back, two of the people said. The sources spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to disclose the cuts.

  1. It won’t be amusing to see that those who created Artficial Stupidity that has and costing so many people to lose their jobs get chopped off by the tool they created. I think this what is called a schadneboner.

  2. Having used AI solutions I'm gonna say it's only useful for low end stuff. It's dumb as fsck and works on algorithms based on data out there and that data is bad. It works based on the majority of crap published. It has no idea about what is actually true.

  3. AI is basically crap. The said, there is probably over 20% deadwood at Meta that could be fired and no one would notice. AI is just the pretext to get rid of the deadwood.
