  1. Couple of weeks ago I watched my neighbor and his grandkids getting ready to launch a kite. went back outside about ten minutes later and the tattered remains of the little kite were tangled in the top of a big oak tree. Felt kind of sad for them.

    1. Back in the day when kids played outside from sun-up 'til sun down all summer long it was common to see the remains of kites tangled in trees and power poles. I 'd wager that most kids today don't even know what a kite is or how to fly one and that even fewer have ever actually flown one or seen one flying.

    2. I used to spend hour designing, building and flying kites, Diamonds, box kites, I even tried to build one of Alexander Graham Bell's (Yeah, Don Ameche himself) tetrahedron kites, but it kept snapping the string. Then came the Gayla keel kites that could float on the barest breath of wind!
