A moving company is revealing the top states Americans are moving to – and have noted a key blue-to-red state trend. One state captured the top slot for the seventh year and accounted for 50% of all one-way U-Haul rentals.
Texas claimed the top spot as the most popular destination for movers in 2025. The majority of people moving to Texas do so for new job opportunities, the moving company HireAHelper found in a study. Migration to Texas is led by middle- and upper-middle class Gen X and millennial workers, which “fits the narrative of professionals and families moving for career opportunities, lower taxes, and a more affordable lifestyle compared to some coastal states,” HireAHelper reported. Texas dethroned North Carolina as the state with the most migration in 2025.
Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina follow as the top states U-Haul customers moved to. The list is the same top five as 2023 and 2024, but in a different order.
California ranked last once again with the greatest exodus of movers for the sixth year in a row. Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois were also in the bottom five. What one common denominator can you think of that all five of the 'move out States' have in common? I'll give you one guess...
this one's is still there, so grab one while you can.

If you're 66 in SC and have no dependents in K-12, you apply for the "4%" prop tax rate. It's around a 62% reduction. For us, that's around $5K.
ReplyDeleteWe left socal and moved to a 99% white area 20 years ago and don't have to deal with "them." Call me racist but it was a good move, the area we left now has some of the highest crime in the country.
