Starting with 'cause and effect' and going from there...

The new mayor of FunkyTown is gonna learn real quick how those people he wants so desperately to pay for all the 'free' shit he wants to give away are able to up and bolt a lot easier and faster than his 'everyday' people he wants to ride busses for free.
There's a great old Ten Years After song, 'I'd love to change the world' from back in 1971 that's as prescient now as it was then. Alvin Lee's commentary from 55 years ago still rings true"
Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me, where is sanity?
Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding, economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money? No, not poor me

The funny thing about this exemption is that the majority of the brands affected are not the ones that Mom and Dad are buying. I'l admit thaty I've been a Ronzoni guy pretty much my whole life, so what do I know. Know who the biggest seller of pastas is in the US ? WalMart and their 'Great Value' brand. This tarrif bizness only pertains to the artsy-fartsy super premium shit that snobs and foodies eat.

Katie Wilson claims she will unilaterally ban grocery stores from closing down in her city. The government will force them to stay open. "We cannot allow big grocery chains to close stores at will!"
Forcing stores that are losing money due to theft or high costs to continue operating is economic illiteracy that will just speed up their eventual bankruptcy. This policy will inevitably backfire and create worse food deserts, as no rational business owner would ever open a new grocery store in Seattle fearing they could be trapped there forever by mayoral decree.
Instead of addressing the root causes driving businesses out of Seattle, such as unchecked retail crime, this authoritarian approach punishes the victims of the city’s failed policies. The sheer hubris of believing a politician can simply command a private entity to keep the doors open when the business model has failed is a dangerous delusion that ignores basic reality.
