This beautiful park and scenic overlook walkway are in the town of Ariano Irpino, Italy, where my grandfather, Angelo Mainiero, was born in and came to America from when he was only 12 years old - in 1918.
He traveled alone - with one small suitcase - on a steamer out of Naples and had a total on $ 12.00 American in his pocket. What a beautiful place to have to leave to make a life for himself here in America. Thank god he did.

The 'White Caps Gang'. That's Angelo as part of the masonry crew he worked with sometime around 1938 or so in Queens, NY.
He worked his whole life as a plaster. Never drove a car even once. Bought my Grandmother Minnie a new car every two years. Always paid cash for everything - don't know if he ever had a bank account of his own.

A generation to be proud of.

ReplyDeleteAmen, Don!
DeleteSo, you are the descendant of an illegal alien.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have your stuff packed. If Stephen Miller/JD Vance get their way they would have you deported. The kids of illegals are not American...
We inhabit such a stupid timeline!
And wasn't on welfare. I think a third of immigrants failed and went back. God bless those that wanted to be American, the greatest citizenship on Earth, EVER!
