This house is about four blocks from my house, and, yes, it is a shithole. A Villager has been given one week to remove debris from his property, or he will face daily fines. The property owned by Stephen ****** at 540 St. Andrews Blvd. on the 'Historic Side of The Villages*' was the subject of a deed compliance hearing this week at the District Office at Brownwood.
A complaint was received Sept. 23 by Community Standards regarding debris throughout the yard and carport. Photographs presented as evidence at the hearing showed golf carts, a kayak, exercise equipment, chairs, a fan, a ladder and other items around the exterior of the home.
Attempts by Community Standards (the clean neighborhood nazis here) to contact the homeowner have been unsuccessful. Phone numbers on file were not accepting calls and emails were returned as undeliverable. In November, a notice of the upcoming hearing was sent to the homeowner by regular mail and by certified mail.
The owner was given seven days to clean up the debris and bring his home into 'compliance'. If he fails to do so, he will face an initial $150 fine followed by $50 daily fines that will accrue until the property is brought up to neighborhood standards...
(*Historic side references my neighborhood - the very first area built by the original developer of The Villages.)

I enjoy it as it is.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is exactly why we told the realtor to find a place with an HOA. A pain in the ass once in a while but not as bad as this. Development across the road, same developer, no HOA, pretty much looks like this. Homes across the road take seasons to sell, usually at a loss. Homes here sell by word of mouth in a few days, at a profit.
ReplyDeleteI stop by every day. The variety is a HUGE draw. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy a good collection of stuff as much as anyone else. I don't see enough here to make a call. I've been looking at a homeless shithole for 6 1/2 years now. The County Code Enforcement here is beyond useless.
