from fields in Oxford...
A Wildwood, Florida man was arrested for the theft of three cows when one of the owner’s recognized his truck parked at a residence.
A deputy met with a victim of livestock theft on County Road 231 in Oxford at 5:35 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He believed he had found the person, later identified as 20-year-old Landon Dean Hogan, who had stolen one of his cows and two of his neighbor’s cows.
He explained that Hogan, who was standing outside of the residence at the time, possibly went onto his property to steal a cow and did the same to his neighbor. He recognized the same Dodge truck that was previously on his property as the same one parked in front of the residence on County Road 231, the report said.
After speaking to Hogan, the deputy arrested him for three counts of grand theft (commercially farmed animals) and two counts of trespassing. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released for posting $9,500 bond.
