What's that saying again? Oh - 'No matter where you are, there you are...'

The phrase "no matter where you are there you are" is a saying from the movie The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. It's comic book philosophy emphasizing that one's 'self', with all its thoughts, feelings, and experiences, is carried wherever one goes. Deep, right? Changing locations doesn't fundamentally change who a person is, and self-awareness is crucial, regardless of one's surroundings. Apply that to Trump AND Putin at the summit. Being in Alaska had no bearing on anything accept for the 'Meet you in the middle' metaphor.
Trump and Putin go to Alaska, have a talk to establish criteria, and leave. The press pisses all over Trump immediately after, saying he got his lunch handed to him by Vlad the Impaler. Why is it so difficult for these MSM motherfuckers to ever acknowledge his efforts in the spirit in which they're intended? All the guy wants is an end to a war...

Never a good thing at this time of year...

This is today's (or yesterday's) New Yorker magazine 'cartoon of the day'.
Is it me, or is that A:) Not funny,
B:) Just plain fuckin' lame, or
C:) Genuinely insipid?
I've been an occasional reader of that rag for the better part of 50 years. Back in the 60's and 70's, even in to the 90's, their cartoons were witty, insightful, relevant and meaningfull. How did they sink this fuckin' low? I don't even get how that is in any funny or slightly humorous. Did their lack  of brain power cause this or is it the other way around - that today's readers are just fuckin' simpletons? Inquiring minds don't need to  know. We honestly don't give a fuck any more...

The shot, fired by a Ukrainian-produced rifle and aided by artificial intelligence and drone guidance, left two Russian soldiers dead in the area of Pokrovsk, Ukraine. The face of war is changing. Read about the shot here.

  1. Regarding the media's always negative take on anything that Trump does, I've often said that if Trump cured cancer, the Democrats would come out in support of tumors .

    1. And then the press gets despondent that no one believes them anymore.

  2. 13,000 foot shot is about 3 times the effective range of a 50 caliber rifle. Not saying they didn't do it, but truth is often the first casualty of war.

    1. 13,000 Feet Is 2.46 miles. Depending on the rifle, the cartridge and bullet ballistics a .50 caliber bullet drop at only 1 mile could be as much as 250 feet or more. As the distance increases the bullet slows down and the drop increases. so at 13,000 feet the drop could be over 600 feet - maybe a lot more than that. And at that distance even the rotation of the earth can affect the point of aim and impact.

  3. The neo-con war pigs will always be upset at anything Trump does that shortens the Ukraine-Russian war, especially when the agreements highlight that the warmongering Euro-weenies are on the losing end.

  7. My wife and I subscribed to the Colo. Springs Gazette morning newspaper. When it's delivered, I always go to the comics and read virtually each and every one ... afterwards, I endure the news.

  8. 97 degree water temps... When "scientists" only measure the shallow (12 inches or less) , stagnant lagoon water they will always get the temp's they desire.

  9. IMHO NATO should have been disbanded after the USSR broke apart. Failing that, the USA would have been wise to drop out of NATO and leave the political meddling to the Europeans. Since the demise of the USSR NATO has been Empire Building and poking the Russian Bear. Their obsession with expansion is responsible for thousands of deaths.

This house is about four blocks from my house, and, yes, it is a shithole. A Villager has been given one week to remove debris from his prop...
