No wonder we're as confused as we are...

Here's a breakdown of why we're confused (at least I am, anyway):
A berry is a fruit that develops from a single ovary of one flower. Bananas fit this definition because they develop from a single flower with one ovary and contain multiple seeds.
Strawberries develop from a single flower with multiple ovaries, making them an aggregate fruit, not a true berry. Strawberries, apples, cherries, and roses are all part of the Rosaceae family. This family includes many edible fruits and ornamental plants.

  1. Who cares? What do you want to eat? Fruit is good for you. Eat organic as most fruit is heavily sprayed with pesticides, etc.

  2. Strawberries may not be berries, but I thank God that Boone's Farm did not market Banana Hill wine.
