Debunking the myth of oil as 'fossil fuel'. Who knew - I didn't...

It's said - even here in this short video - that J.D. Rockefeller paid scientists to call oil a fossil fuel at the 1892 Geneva Convention to “induce the idea of scarcity”. This claim is false. Scientists had used the phrase “fossil fuel” as early as 1759 before J.D. Rockefeller’s birth, and there is no evidence it was discussed by chemists at an 1892 meeting in Geneva about naming compounds. The reality of it is, though, that fossils and oil have absolutely nothing to do with each other, so believe what you will.

Looks like Sparticus may have a little problem...

According to freebeacon.com, Sparticus - Sen. Cory Booker (not Kirk Douglas) - who said absolutely nothing during his marathon 25-hour speech last week, broke a Senate speaking record. But his fundraising off that speech broke long-standing Senate ethics rules, a watchdog group alleged in a complaint filed Tuesday.

The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT), an ethics watchdog nonprofit organization, alleged that Booker violated ethics rules by using his record-breaking speech for campaign purposes. In a complaint filed Tuesday with the Senate Select Committee on Ethics, the watchdog group highlighted a series of campaign messages Booker sent to his supporters during and after his record-breaking performance on the Senate floor, including messages asking followers to "stand with Cory" during his speech by signing up for his email list and others that solicited contributions for Booker and the DNC from anyone "inspired" by his historic showing.

Is it raining out? Press one for English...

The National Weather Service is no longer providing language translations of its products, a change that experts say could put non-English speakers at risk of missing potentially life-saving warnings about extreme weather.

The weather service has “paused” the translations because its contract with the provider has lapsed, NWS spokesperson Michael Musher said. He declined further comment. Lilt, an artificial intelligence company, began providing translations in late 2023, replacing manual translations that the weather service had said were labor-intensive and not 'sustainable'.

Dissin' the Dad?

Piss on you! Florida Man strikes again...

There's a news report this morning that Florida Man John Connaughton, a 51-year-old registered sex offender, was reportedly so pissed off at Doors, Moulding & More in St. Petersburg that he caused more than $1,000 worth of damage in his urine-slinging rampage, according to a Pinellas County affidavit.

He allegedly chucked multiple bottles of his own pee through the front entrance to the store and poured the contents throughout the store, including on the merchandise.

Connaughton, who has an extensive criminal history including lewd and lascivious exhibition, was apparently pissed that the business refused to interview him. After throwing his wee at a store employee, he ran out of the store. He was eventually apprehended and charged with felony battery, criminal mischief, and aggravated assault.

I'm not trying to poke fun at Babs when I tell you we've been married for 40+ years, and through all that time she's cooked a total of six dinners. You can tell by the jewelry she makes that she's a very creative person, but that creative spirit doesn't extend to the culinary arts. In fact, we pretty much made a plan long before we got hitched. She knew I always cooked for myself - a rarity back in the 70's for a single guy, living alone, to cook for himself every night. A half dozen of Nadler’s current and former colleagues—on both sides of the aisle—were even more savage behind the scenes, pooh-poohing the New York liberal. One House Democrat said he wasn't just rancid but also frequently out of it.

"Members of Congress don’t want to sit next to him because of it," the House Democrat told the Washington Free Beacon. "Yeah, he smells. I don’t know what he does. Maybe he doesn’t take a bath, I don’t know what it is."

Haynes led 6-3 early in the tournament, but Smith battled back to only one down. Despite the comeback, though, Haynes ended up winning it all. Regardless, both trans players tore through their female opponents this season. Smith won 85 of his 113 matches and 62 percent of 848 frames since 2021. Hayes had a similar winning record, with a .750 winning percentage in 241 matches and 61 percent of frames before entering this week’s tournament.

It's truly flattering that as many as 10,000 people a day check in to read this blog, but it got me thinking about the media - especially news media - that just seems to be eveywhere we turn our heads these days. You must be like me in that I fuckin' hate news on TV because they pander, they over-report, the friggin' giggle too much (what's that all about), and they talk about shit I could care less about, like global climate change and who got murdered in Disneyworld.
