Canadians - and other foreign nationals - visiting for longer than 30 days must now register with the U.S. government. The registration will then determine if someone will need a biometric appointment to be fingerprinted.
Any failure to comply with registration or being fingerprinted could result in a fine of up to $5,000 or imprisonment up to six months, or both, according to DHS. All these components have made the Sunshine State not seem as welcoming a place to spend the winter for some Canadians.
On an NPR show here in Florida, former Toronto Star staff columnist and Blue Jays fan Tim Harper told host Matthew Peddie that the hesitancy also derives from feeling disrespected by President Trump. That's what we all admire about our Canookian friends - their thick skin - right?
Lemme tell y'all something. Canadians are notoriously shitty tippers, usually in the 5% range, and French Canadians are even worse. Fuck 'em all. More seats for us at the bar. You won't be missed...

Now, is there a person out there that doesn't know that whatever the fuck is gonna come down is gonna burn up on re-entry into our atmosphere? Oh, I forgot. They don't teach shit like that anymore. Never mind...

I saw this yesterday. I swear I thought it was a goof. Especially with her wearing that camo hat likes she's shading Kristi Noem. Juss' sayin'...

The Democratic National Committee will consider a challenge to youth activist David Hogg's election as vice chair, following allegations that the February vote "discriminated against three women of color candidates."
They just can't let go of that DEI bullshit...

Mothers Day is coming up in two weeks.

Ya see how fuckin' loonie these people are that they're actually saying that they're willing to just give away LA taxpayers' money for shit that supposedly goes back more than 65 years? Shakespeare was right. 'Nuff said...

FWIW, The Soviet venera program of Venusian exploration discovered that only extremely heavily armored probes had a chance of surviving on the surface of Venus. The record was 65 minutes for what was essentially a tank. The pressure on the surface is about like being 300 meters under water, the ambient temp is 900°F and the atmosphere is CO2 and sulfuric acid. If a probe designed for those conditions re-enters earths atmosphere Im not sure it would completely burn up on reentry.
ReplyDeleteIt won't. Listen for the "THUMP".
DeleteOne could wish you get treated with the same contempt when you head to the UK but they're better people than you. Your true colors are on display.
ReplyDeleteYou can probably get into the UK without fingerprinting ... but you will need your electronic travel authorization. Once in, just be sure you don't post the wrong joke on Facebook, or you might be tossed into jail. It's really too bad that the UK, and most of Europe, has abandoned western ideals.
DeleteWhat I find really surprising, given that it was only 80 or 90 years ago, is that the UK has flipped the meaning of "fascism". At one point it meant a centralized power-grab combined with the loss of personal freedom. They now use it to label people trying to decentralize power and increase personal freedom. George Orwell was an optimist.
The $2b to trade schools is a fine idea!
ReplyDeleteI read that the Soviet space capsule had been built to go into the atmosphere of Venus so it was built stout! That was why they thought it might make it to the ground here. I guess we'll find out.
Apparently the russian space craft isn't your typical satellite and could very well survive re-entry. "The Descent Craft was designed to survive entry through the dense atmosphere of Venus. It will therefore likely survive reentry into the Earth’s atmosphere intact and make a crash landing". This spacecraft was part of the Soviet Union's sucessful Venera program to explore Venus. Between 1961 and 1984, thirteen Venera probes successfully entered Venus's atmosphere, with ten landing on the planet's surface. Kosmos 482, however, never left Earth. The upper stage of its rocket shut down prematurely, leaving it in a 206 x 9802 kilometer orbit that has been decaying ever since.
ReplyDeleteTrump's seducing her. And I think it's working
ReplyDeleteThe LA settlement should be paid by those who committed the sexual abuse and those who covered it up.
ReplyDeleteMost are probably dead by now. History says that it will be paid by innocent taxpayers.
DeleteI remember seeing a soviet space lab burn up back in the 80s on re-entry. Can still picture it but not the woman I was with.
ReplyDeleteNot only should Harvard lose 2.5 billion they should have to pay back ALL taxpayer money for the past 30 years. And ALL the radical professors should lose their pensions.
ReplyDeleteHarvard is a private school and (probably) the professors have a private pension.
DeleteOf the $4B, how much will be left after the lawyers get theirs?
ReplyDeleteAnd there's nothing more dangerous than a lawyer with too much money.
Will the Descent Craft survive reentry?
ReplyDeleteThe reentry of the Kosmos 482 Descent Craft will not be your standard reentry. The Descent Craft was designed to survive entry through the dense atmosphere of Venus. It will therefore likely survive reentry into the Earth’s atmosphere intact and make a crash landing (it is extremely unlikely that the parachute system will still work after more than 50 years in space). This will therefore be a high-interest reentry.

Love your site. Habitual longtime lurker and meme thief. Fellow Floridian.
ReplyDeleteMore Canadians canceling Florida trips - Excellent. A friend of mine in the hospitality force agrees with you … they suck at tipping. Let them stay home, eh.
NO taxpayer subsidies should be given to independent colleges. Cut off all the funding.
Taxpayers should NEVER be forced to pay for the sexual exploits of politicians, NEVER.
