She must have missed a semester of Econ101...

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul approved a controversial law that will force oil, natural-gas and coal companies to fork over a staggering $75 billion to the state for carbon emissions and allegedly contributing to climate change. “For too long New Yorkers have borne the costs of the climate crisis, which is impacting every part of the state,” Hochul said, citing extreme storms. The petro companies should foot the bill, the governor said.
Critics and consumer advocates are already screaming, saying the law is unworkable, likely to be challenged in court and will only end up costing customers more.
“What would you have them do? Not sell fuel in New York State,” said Ken Pokalsky, vice president of the New York State Business Council, which opposed the measure. Money extorted from the petro firms over a 24-year-period would go toward 'resiliency projects', such as coastal protection and flood mitigation.
Mindless do-gooders like her are the bane of our society, but - as my father usta say - 'ya gets whatcha paid for'...

So, ya get a job after being outta work for however long,
and the first thing you do is go on strike for higher pay. That forces you employer to raise his prices prices to a point (like $5.00 for a cuppa Joe) where people just stop coming in to where you work and the place goes bust and you're out of work again.
How'd that whole barista strike thing work for ya?

We've all seen ads online like this, right?

Usually on a side bar or more often than not popped right in to the middle of whatever we're trying to read - they're not only a pain in the ass, they're also really fuckin' stupid. I mean, seing that dumb visual and reading that absurd headline would make me want to explore whatever the fuck it is they're trying to promote? Seriously? They must think most of us are first-graders, I swear they do.

That is a real front page article from a real UK tabloid. Don't believe me? Click on the headline and it'll open in a new tab. What is not to love about those whacky Brits?

  1. “What would you have them do? Not sell fuel in New York State” sounds like a damn good start. As if that shit didn't cost enough in NY already.
Remember the tobacco settlements? Remember how the money was actually spent? Stand by; you ain't seen nothin' yet.
