According to a report this week, ahead of the US elections 2024, the Media Research Center (MRC) found that presidential race coverage between former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris on ABC, CBS, and NBC News has been the most “lopsided in history.”
I'm old enough to remember Walter Cronkite nearly crying when he told us that JFK had been shot, and getting teary-eyed again when Armstrong walked on the moon. I do NOT remember him doing anything more than telling us what had happened. Guys like him and Brinkley were true journalists. What we have today is nothing but a bunch opinionated lib hacks. Why would anyone bother?
Huntly and Brinkley were true Journalists. Cronkite was a shit lib that lied about the Tet Offensive. US and South Vietnamese forces won that battle but Cronkite reported it as a win for the Viet Cong.
ReplyDeleteCronkite lied about the Tet Offensive.
ReplyDeleteCronkite was a straight up commie, come on man.
ReplyDeleteSadly, this is the percentage of negative-positive media spin since JFK's race. Always positive for the Donks, always negative for the Repubs. Always. In print, more color and more 'happy' pictures and front page for the Donks, B&W and smaller and unhappier pictures and 2nd page or deeper for the Repubs. In radio news. In TV news. Always.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes this significant is the info is only usually reported a year after a presidential race, not during the presidential race.
As to Cronkite, no. Just no. He put a spin on things too. Like when we stomped on the North Vietnamese and Vietcong so badly during the Tet Offensive that basically North Vietnam was ready to call for a cease fire until Uncle Walter said we lost bigly and badly during said Tet Offensive. His reporting on the whole Vietnam war was very slanted for the Commies, and towards Communist China and against the South Vietnamese.
The tipping point of media coverage occurred in the 30's, when the USSR got control over some very influential news rooms, like the NY Times, all which refused to print any reports on the Holodomor in the Ukraine where Stalin et al killed 9 million Ukrainians. The USSR also bought control of the journalism schools during WWII, of which the results started showing up in coverage of the Korean War but really hit all the news organizations in the 60's.
Uncle Walt was as biased as the rest of them, but his writers didn't give him the chance to air his hatred of Nixon.
ReplyDeletePoor networks!
ReplyDeleteDemocrats: You support us or we'll release the Epstein list.
Republicans: If we win we'll release the Epstein list.
Rock and a hard place.
Wally was a Commie hack. He sold out our guys in 'Nam.
ReplyDeleteI remember a lot of omissions and selected inclusions by TV news during the Vietnam war. We never saw VC and NVA committing atrocities, only US troops waging a "legal" war.
ReplyDeleteBiased, partisan, "Yellow" journalism existed long before TV. However, the MSM is now largely owned by a cabal of leftist elites and should be treated as the enemy of the Republic.
That internet thingy has exposed the evil and can go a long way towards correcting the current shenanigans.
Ol' Walt lied. A lot. No way to check on him back then, so he got away with it. And to be sure, he was far less partisan than the MSM today, but he was still in the tank for the left.
