Laura Ingraham calls on Mitt Romney to resign, says she 'may consider' opposing him in 4 and a half years...
I always enjoyed listening to Laura Ingraham on the radio here - I was sorry to see her end her run in syndication.
She's a tough, articulate, clear speaking pundit who doesn't take prisoners. Last night she took aim at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her demeanor during the State of the Union address and eventually tearing up President Trump's speech as he concluded. Then she focused on Utah Senator Mitt Romney who was the only Republican to vote guilty along with Democrats at the Senate impeachment trial.
"Last night, [Pelosi] showed the world who she really is," Ingraham said on "The Ingraham Angle" Wednesday. "A woman left with little else, but her own sour puss, facial expression and a paper ripping stunt. She let her anger get the best of her, and her white suit didn't make her look any more angelic. It was the color of surrender."
Ingraham then called Romney "the ultimate selfish, preening, self-centered politician."
"If he were up for reelection this year, the people of Utah would have their own payback against him because they were defrauded by Romney. For when he had to choose, he chose Schumer and Kamala over common sense and conservatism - If you're one of Romney's constituents in Utah, you're out of luck. If you're a business in need of a regulation reexamined, don't bother calling his office. He has no power anymore."
She brought up Romney's previous presidential runs saying, "we thought you'd be better for America and the way you repay millions of people, the millions who did vote for you in 2012 is to throw in with the very people who don't share our goals, who hate us. And by the way, who still hate you."
"Like all the other bitter 'Never Trumpers', he'd rather see the entire American economy go down the drain than give Trump a victory," Ingraham said.

The first, older photo shows the ritual of the 'hazing' of US Navy sailors during an Equator crossing ceremony sometime in 1944. This 'ceremonial ritual' is no longer practiced but had been for a hundred years. Any sailor who had NOT crossed the Equator before was subject to this hazing.
The actual ship in this shot is unidentified but could easily be the LST that my father was stationed on at that exact time.
This second pic is his record of his crossing.

It's the beginning of the end for the high-end, big store retailers.
Macy's to close 125 stores, cut more than 2,000 jobs
Macy's said on Tuesday it plans to close 125 of its least productive stores over the next three years to tackle slowing mall traffic and will slash more than 2,000 corporate jobs as a part of a cost-savings effort. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based company operated 867 stores according to a regulatory filing a year ago. It had 130,000 total employees at the time.
Macy's said it would close stores in "lower tier" malls, and explore new off-mall formats, as it looks to tackle plummeting mall traffic in the United States.
The 161-year-old department store chain has been grappling with retaining existing shoppers and attracting new ones as consumers opt for online shopping. Since 2015, it has closed more than 100 stores and cut thousands of jobs.
"We will focus our resources on the healthy parts of our business, directly address the unhealthy parts of the business and explore new revenue streams," Chief Executive Officer Jeff Gennette said in a statement. The 125 stores targeted for closure currently account for about $1.4 billion in annual sales, the company said. Annual revenue was $24.97 billion in fiscal 2019.

Today's weather is gonna be serious here.
We've certainly 'enjoyed' our fair share of rainy weather here in N. Central Florida this year. The National Weather Service predicts today will bring storms and potentially isolated tornadoes in Lake County, according to a report issued Wednesday by meteorologists.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the Leesburg area (here) will enjoy a typical day for much of Thursday, with just a 30% chance for rain showers between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. After that, the weather is expected to take a turn.
“While all of east central Florida is at some risk for severe weather, the best chances exist over Lake county and the I-4 corridor, east to the Space Coast overnight Thursday night,” meteorologists wrote in a hazardous weather outlook posted to their website.
“The primary threats will be damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, and isolated tornadoes,” the report continued.
Though the chances are small, the weather service urged residents to have a reliable method of receiving severe weather warnings “in the middle of the night.”
Because everyone loves a good fuckin' tornedo, right?

Kirk Douglas, actor and Hollywood legend, dead at 103
Douglas' best role - by my thinking - was in 'Lust for life' playing Van Gogh.
Kirk Douglas, one of the most famous American leading men of the mid-20th century remembered for his dimpled chin, chiseled features, and virile Hollywood roles, died Wednesday at the age of 103, his family announced.
"It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103," Kirk's son, Michael Douglas, wrote in a statement shared to social media.
He continued: "To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.

This is pretty funny:
Police chase breaks out along parade route before Chiefs Super Bowl celebration.
The Kansas City Police Department took two people into custody after a pursuit took place on the Chiefs Super Bowl parade route.
The pursuit went for multiple blocks down the parade route and eventually ended near Union Station and Crown Center in downtown Kansas City. The car in the pursuit had multiple flat tires, and police said there were no injuries in the incident.

It's time to move forward.
With all the bullshit going on around us, let's do one thing right for a change. Re-instate Pete.
Pete Rose is asking MLB commissioner Rob Manfred for another chance.
USA Today Sports is reporting that Rose and his representation sent a 19-page letter to Manfred on Wednesday, asking for his name to be removed from MLB’s ineligible list. He was banned for life from baseball in 1989 for betting on games while managing the Cincinnati Reds.
Rose’s argument points to the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal and Manfred’s hesitance to punish active players for their participation in a scheme that almost certainly changed the outcome of games.

A very odd thing about women's swimsuits has occured to the captain...call it obvious. the women always are remarking and compliment the suit by saying the suit would look great on them. the odd thing is, the less suit there is the better the suit looks on them and the more we, the men, will pay for that suit. isn't that odd?
