The birth of the Burqa...

On March 8, 1979, over 100,000 Iranian women gathered in Tehran on International Women's Day to protest Ayatollah Khomeini's newly announced compulsory hijab decree. The crowds marched from Tehran University to protest the loss of personal choice and their civil liberties. The demonstrations were triggered by a newspaper announcement on March 7 stating that women would be required to wear headscarves in the workplace. Women from all walks of life, including nurses, students, mothers, and professionals, marched with their hair uncovered to demand bodily autonomy. 
The crowd famously chanted, "We didn't have a revolution to go backwards" and "Freedom is not Eastern or Western, but universal". Iconic images of the protests were captured by photojournalist Hengameh Golestan, documenting the unified opposition to the new Islamic Republic's laws.

In the United States, the Miranda warning is a type of notification customarily given by police to criminal suspects in police custody (or in a custodial interrogation) advising them of their right to silence and, in effect, protection from self-incrimination; that is, their right to refuse to answer questions or provide information to law enforcement or other officials. Named for the U.S. Supreme Court's 1966 decision Miranda v. Arizona, these rights are often referred to as Miranda rights. The purpose of such notification is to preserve the admissibility of their statements made during custodial interrogation in later criminal proceedings. 
The language used in Miranda warnings derives from the Supreme Court's opinion in its Miranda decision:
 You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at any time.

Here's why you don't stand around a car fire filming it on your phone, ya knucklehead...

The video shows an MTA car exploding in an enormous fireball just steps from Wall Street’s iconic Charging Bull statue, sending screaming New Yorkers sprinting for safety. Footage showed the vehicle initially burning fiercely during the Tuesday evening rush hour just outside the MTA’s headquarters at 2 Broadway, a block from the iconic statue.
It then suddenly burst into a fireball, with scary footage showing onlookers running for safety.
 

Police and firefighters were called to the car fire near the corner of Broadway and Stone Street at around 5:42 p.m. It took nearly 90 minutes to completely control,  and thankfully, there were no injuries, the FDNY said. 
 
 
There have been no reports suggesting it was suspicious, but the blaze remains under investigation.

He got hooked and dragged...

A TikTok video shows another, larger fishing vessel coming up on the guy in the floaty, a bit baffled by what they’re seeing. “What are you doing,” yells somebody onboard the boat. “I’m catching a shark,” replies the man in the floaty. 
Based on the video, the guy had been fishing near the beach in Fort Lauderdale when he hooked onto the shark and was dragged four miles offshore. Once they figure out what’s going on, the crew on the boat tosses the man a line and get him onboard. 
Once onboard, the floaty guy proceeds to grab the rod and land the shark. The video cuts off after that and it’s unclear what happens next, but what is clear is that this dude just went for one hell of a ride.

The usual suspects doing what they do best...


This was scene yesterday in Long Branch, New Jersey, when thousands of the usual suspects mobbed the boardwalk and the streets, jumping and dancing on the cars of innocent passersby. They disrupted traffic and created chaos until local and county cops were able to corral and finally disperse the mobs. 
It happened in a number of other beachside communities in New York and New Jersey over the past couple of days, with these newly popular 'pop-up parties' erupting seemingly out of nowhere because of announcements on social media.
 


There's a video of their antics shown on Facebook if you can catch it. It's amazing the balls these people exhibit when they're in large crowds, and it's equally amazing more of them don't get run over by these motorists. If Jersey was a Second Amendment State, would this happen less often? Me thinks so. Juss' sayin'...

It was recently announced, however, that production of this famed legacy beer will come to an end just days from now.
On May 23, one final 80-barrel batch of Schlitz will be brewed at the Wisconsin Brewing Company's facility in Verona, Wisconsin. It won't be just any batch of Schlitz, either; this is one that reaches back into the beer's heyday. Wisconsin Brewing Company Brewmaster Kirby Nelson has delved into 80-year-old brewing records to develop a recipe that will replicate Schlitz in its prime, giving fans one last chance to enjoy this iconic beer as it was in the height of its glory. This last batch is expected to arrive on June 27, as part of a special commemorative event at the brewery. For those who want to get their hands on some of these last Schlitz, pre-orders open on the Wisconsin Brewing Company website the same day as the brew itself, May 23.

Three beachgoers were stabbed while hundreds of teens took over packed New England beaches in separate incidents on Tuesday, sparking fights and forcing evacuations of the summer hotspot. The suspected stabbing broke out just after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Narragansett Town Beach, a popular summer vacation retreat in southern Rhode Island, as temperatures reached into the 90s. Responding officers located three victims suffering from minor stab wounds. Almost 44,000 people have been told to leave their homes and an “immediate threat to life” warning given as the Sandy wildfire nears mansions close to Los Angeles. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) issued the orders as strong and unpredictable winds continue to fan the flames in southern California.
Couple things worth noting, not the least of which is the fact that this shit happens every year out there. The weather patterns cause most of the spreading. It's nature doing what it does, it's not climate change, it's actually climate consistency.

A Sacramento man died after blowing himself up inside his own home following a tax auction loss, according to reporting from the New York Post and the Sacramento Bee. The case has now become a grim warning about the risks that can come with buying properties through county tax sales.
Sacramento County had listed 32 properties in its latest tax-defaulted auction, including homes, vacant lots, and other parcels tied to unpaid property taxes. Officials say those sales can look like bargains on paper, but they can also come with serious problems that buyers do not always see upfront.

The steps of Montmarte...

The steps of Montmartre typically refer to the Rue Foyatier, a famous, uninterrupted stone staircase running straight up to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Paris.The climb consists of exactly 222 steps. If you want to reach the top but need a break from the stairs, you can ride the Montmartre Funicular, which runs right alongside the steps and only costs a standard Paris metro ticket.
 At the top you will get panoramic views of Paris, which are especially stunning at sunset or night. The steps are a known hotspot for scams and pickpockets. Keep your belongings secure, and don't let anyone distract you by trying to tie string around your wrist.
 If you want a more leisurely and scenic - albeit hilly - walk, bypass the main staircase and wander toward the quiet cobblestone streets like Rue de l'Abreuvoir.

How the hell does an engine fall off a jet? Musta been a coupla loose screws...

The fiery final seconds of a doomed UPS cargo plane have been revealed in chilling new footage showing an engine tearing away from the wing just after takeoff.
The left engine and pylon are seen separating from UPS Flight 2976 before flying over the wing as flames burst from the aircraft.The cargo plane crashed in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 4, 2025, killing 15 people. The Boeing MD-11F had just taken off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport when disaster struck.
Newly released surveillance footage shown by the National Transportation Safety Board captured the horrifying moment the engine detached. The video shows the left engine and its pylon breaking away from the wing seconds after rotation.
