Worse than Gavin Newsome? I didn't know that was even possible...

This is from an article I saw in the New York Post, but it wasn't their survey. Unfortunately, the link to the story was broken, but none the less, I find it hard to imagine that she is actually worse at her job than he is, because, based on what we see with him being on podcasts and making speeches and flitting about, I wonder if that guy even has an office.
The lowest-ranked governors in the study include Maura Healey of Massachusetts (46th), Dan McKee of Rhode Island (47th), Gavin Newsom of California (48th), Josh Green of Hawaii (49th), and Kathy Hochul of New York (50th).
Evaluation Criteria: The study graded governors and states across 97 policy variables spanning categories such as fiscal policy, housing freedom, occupational licensing, gun rights, free speech, medical freedom, and policing.

An oldie but goodie. I don't reference McCain very often...

Inflation remains a dominant concern for American households in late 2026, with families feeling the pinch in unexpected places. The stakes extend beyond one night of trick-or-treating. Persistent price pressures have eroded purchasing power for middle-income families, making even modest holiday spending feel burdensome. Political debate continues over the causes and duration of these conditions, with voters expressing frustration that everyday costs remain elevated despite earlier promises of relief. The pcartoon makes the point that the economy is delivering disappointment at every level, including to children. By showing parents passing along lowered expectations, it suggests that current conditions are forcing families to accept diminished returns on once-simple traditions.
Do kids still Trick or Treat where you live? Granted, living in an old-folks hometown like I do, if somebody came to my door with a costume on I'd probably shoot first and ask questions later...

There are some things that my feeble mind can't comprehend, and I definitely can't wrap my head around the concept that something has no start or finish, but for some reason, their idea makes more sense to me than the idea that all this shit got started with one 'big bang'. How did the material that went 'bang' get there is the single issue I don't get, and what or who caused that same said bang to actually 'bang', if ya get my drift.
As humans, it's hard for us to grasp anything that isn't within our reach - so to speak. Sure, dreamers dream and see things that aren't there, but that's not the same thing. Everything in our world has limits - has a yardstick - to make a metaphor. It's difficuly at best for us to get the idea that something could have no beginning or end. Know what I mean?

Here was a New York City building exterior undergoing a dramatic before-and-after power washing, revealing clean light-colored brick underneath decades of accumulated soot and pollution. New York used to be a much dirtier, if you can imagine that. I used to think old buildings were made of dark bricks.
The photo was taken by Trevor Little on January 3, 2007, at 188 Suffolk Street (East Houston Street area) in Manhattan.  The dark, grimy layer on the facade was built up from years of urban smog, emissions, and coal or oil heating systems common in the Northeast during the 20th century.

Everybody's excited about the new Snoopy balloon that'll be featured in this year's parade, but I think these two new balloons from the Dept. of Homeland Security will make a much bigger impression...

Editorial cartoonist Clay Jones uses satire to critique conservative talking points that claim anti-racism efforts or progressive ("liberal") political views are themselves anti-white or racist. By revealing the figure in a KKK outfit in the final panel, the cartoon highlights and mocks the irony or false equivalence of equating modern liberal or civil rights discussions with historical white supremacist groups like the Ku Klux Klan. Lotta deep thinking went in to that. Juss' sayin' - ya normally don't expect that from me, do ya...

For no good reason, I find that photo very evocative of the era - say around the mid- to late-sixties. Sure do wish mini-skirts and shorty dresses would make a comeback, but then again all these young babes today, 40 pounds over-weight and covered with too may stupid tattoos, ain't exactly what I wanna see in a short skirt, if ya get my drift...
