The difference between now and then - what is 'normal?

Interesting cartoon, n'est pas? The visual emphasizes the difficulty of transitioning away from the prior administration's lack of world influence and unmitigated law-breaking. Debris falls from the structure as the central figure reaches toward the distant platform. The composition uses the broken bridge to represent persistent political obstacles.
In the broader context of 2026 the cartoon reflects continued debate over the long term effects of the Trump presidency. Observers note that efforts to restore 'institutional norms' face resistance from the widening gap between parties.
The right does seek to return to a semblence of normal - that is, lower taxes, lower restrictions, smaller government. The left is leaning hard towards a semi-socialist country where big brother promises everything and prvides nothing.
It's all a question of what each side defines as the 'common good'. Do we want Big Government dictating every facet of our lifes, or do we want to live free in a free, non-burdening society?
I think the cartoon guy wants us to go back to what he saw as normal four years ago - five dollar gas and 9 1/2 % inflation, with millions of thieves and beggars streaming over our border. Is that the 'normal' he wants so badly? I doubt it...

  1. Normalcy of political institutions means a return to graft, kickbacks to loyal supporters, politicians becoming rich from insider information and double dealing. Ah, yes the gold days.

  2. As Trump cleans up corruption the states respond by raising taxes. My property tax went up 40%. Guess where.
