Burning shit, tearin' shit up, general craziness. WTF is going on?

Widespread protests and student-led demonstrations have erupted across France and several other European and global cities over soaring living costs, housing crises, and public service or school funding.
In France, between 410,000 and 800,000 people took to the streets nationwide in major weekend demonstrations, with roughly 110,000 marching in Paris alone.
Protesters are challenging President Emmanuel Macron’s government over public school funding, teacher shortages, infrastructure, and high inflation. Clashes broke out in Paris, Lyon, Nantes, Marseille, and Bordeaux, prompting the deployment of 70,000 police officers. Nearly 1,000 people were arrested nationwide following property damage, tear gas deployment, and scattered fires.
And not just in France - it's all over Europe. The thing is, all of these Gen Z'rs haven't had to work for anything their whole lives. Everything they have has been handed to them, and here they are bitching about it and causing chaos, mostly because their parents didn't beat the snot out of 'em when they fucked up as kids.

“During the Vietnam War... every respectable artist in this country was against the war. It was like a laser beam. We were all aimed in the same direction. The power of this weapon turns out to be that of a custard pie dropped from a stepladder six feet high.”

In Spain, tens of thousands marched in Madrid demanding higher pensions and relief from a severe housing and cost-of-living crisis exacerbated by rising energy costs.
In Italy & Belgium, demonstrations and student-led marches have occurred in cities like Rome, Milan, and Brussels over economic pressures and educational concerns. Across Albania & Argentina, student-led anti-government and economic protests have continued in Tirana and Buenos Aires

Remember this place? The Nazi party gave it to Hitler as a birthday present, and supposedly he knew nothing of it's construction until he visited it for the first time. This/was Berchtesgaden - his damn-near impossible to get to hideout in the Alps. Where this famous picture of Easy Company was taken:

His full name is Barack Hussein Obama II. He was born August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents Barack H. Obama, Sr., and Ann Dunham - his white mother he never talks about. His parents divorced when he was 2 years old and he was raised by his mother, Ann, and maternal grandparents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham. His mother later married Lolo Soetoro - a guy from Java. His sister Maya was born in 1970, and he also has several siblings on his father’s side - none of whom he has ever discussed publicly.
Where did they come up with that name? Well, he was named after his father. The name itself is derived from the Semitic root B-R-K and the Arabic word Barakah (or the Swahili word baraka), Barack translates to "blessed", "blessing", or "divine favor".
Wonder if he ever knew the roots of his own name? I have even money a whole wing of that concrete garbage can is dedicated to that...

The observable universe may contain around one septillion stars. That’s approximately 1 followed by 24 zeros, although the true number remains uncertain. Astronomers estimate this enormous population by studying galaxies, measuring their brightness, and calculating how many stars they contain. Our own Milky Way galaxy is estimated to contain between 100 billion and 400 billion stars. Yet it represents only a tiny fraction of the observable universe.
Research using the Hubble Space Telescope has suggested that the observable universe could contain roughly two trillion galaxies, including many faint galaxies that current telescopes cannot directly detect. However, the number of galaxies and stars is not precisely known. Different methods produce different estimates, and many galaxies are too distant or faint to study individually.
The observable universe extends approximately 46 billion light-years in every direction, giving it a diameter of about 92 billion light-years.

This almost funny group of folks are a high-spirited, low energy picket line of creative workers holding hand-drawn signs featuring famous cartoon characters. This historic photo captures the 1941 Disney Animators' Strike outside the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California.
The strike began on May 29, 1941, and lasted for five weeks. It was organized by the Screen Cartoonists Guild (SCG) after Walt Disney fired several pro-union employees, including top animator Art Babbitt. Tension had been building for years over wide pay disparities, uncredited work, and unfulfilled profit-sharing bonuses from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
