The American Dream is still alive and well in Florida. It just doesn’t need a mansion or a driveway full of luxury cars. For many Floridians - like me - the real dream is a modest home tucked away in the countryside, surrounded by palm trees, open grass, citrus groves, and plenty of space to breathe.
A porch or a lanai for slow mornings, a garden and a couple orange trees out back, maybe a little pond nearby, and enough land that the nearest neighbor feels a world away. No traffic. No city noise. No keeping up with anybody.
Just warm sunshine, quiet evenings, summer skies, and a peaceful little piece of Florida to call home. That’s the Florida American Dream. Thank you, Life in Florida, for reminding us to keep it simple - and real...

I was born and raised in Saint Augustine, Florida before all of the Yankees ruined their states and moved in. It was a lot like the description. There are very few places now in Florida like the place described that are not astronomically expensive if they even exist at all.

ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with that gal's checklist, met all requirements, but that was 40 years ago and I already snagged a wife that surpassed MY expectations. The silly part is this barfing on social media with expectations it will produce results. Good luck sunshine, maybe you should move to the Midwest and take a job at the local coffee shop or eatery to meet local folks in person. Worked for me after a lot of separating wheat from chaff.
