America’s ranchers are facing their smallest cattle herd in 75 years, a shortage now rippling from pastures to some of the nation’s largest meatpackers.
Tyson Foods announced last week that it will close beef facilities in Illinois and Utah and pursue the sale of another in Washington as it reshapes its beef business amid what the company called one of the most historic cattle shortages the country has ever experienced. Tyson said recent USDA data suggest supply constraints are likely to persist.
USDA data shows the U.S. entered 2026 with about 86.2 million cattle and calves, the smallest herd since the early 1950s. That’s down from roughly 94.7 million cattle and calves in 2019, a decline of more than 8 million animals.
Rebuilding that lost supply will take time, particularly after years of conditions that pushed ranchers to shrink their herds.
Chief among the problems facing cattle ranchers is persistent drought. "The biggest thing has been drought. That, along with alien abductions, are driving the herd numbers down," Eric Belasco, head of the agricultural economics department at Montana State University, said in a report.

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed was quoted Tuesday saying pro football reminds him of slavery. He's playing to the youngest voters.
Generation Z is so obsessed with racism and slavery references that it looks like the NFL may have to come up with a new name for Team Owner.

Calls for the excommunication of Gov. Maura Healey are mounting after she signed a bill removing restrictions on abortion access - though the Archdiocese of Boston has not yet stated how it will respond to the demands.
While church leaders have condemned the new law as “gravely immoral,” the Archdiocese has not declared whether it will pursue canonical discipline against the Catholic governor or take any formal action regarding her standing in the Church.
An online petition calling on Boston Archbishop Richard Henning to excommunicate Healey has collected over 25,000 signatures since pro-life advocacy group LifeSite launched it on Wednesday.
The petition accuses Healey of sinning “gravely against God by legalizing the killing of babies until birth” and urges Henning to declare her excommunicated following her “scandalous betrayal of God’s law.” It argues that such penalties exist to “prompt the repentance of sinners and the salvation of souls.”

Whether it’s Harry Styles getting hit in the face with Skittles onstage, fans filming shows instead of, you know, actually watching them, or a disturbing increase in public defecation in the audience, concert etiquette in the 2020s is practically nonexistent.
So much so that there’s even a Wikipedia page dedicated to the decade’s uptick in terrible concert behavior. Pooping in the stands. Throwing phones. Loud talking during performances. When - and why - did we start acting like undersocialized animals just because we bought tickets to the Eras Tour?

Rolling Stone published a story on socialist kingmaker and left-wing podcaster Hasan Piker who says America deserved 9-11.
He's a U.S. college-graduated communist we let into our country from Turkey. This while we're watching a movie about a Trojan Horse thinking this could never happen here.

Trump could be laying the groundwork for another historic summit with Kim Jong-un after praising his “very good relationship” with the tyrant. The president also declared that he will be scaling back joint war drills with South Korea and blasted the US ally for its refusal to help denuclearise Iran.

A pack of Marlboro Special Select in california is $ 13.00. in New York City is $ 19.00. In Ireland? $ 24.00. I will be bringing a carton over. Bought 'em here yesterday for just under $ 7.00 a pack. - and I am somehow deluded in to thinking that's a good price.

Google says that this claim is 'absurd'. Reality is, it's a very obtuse way of talking about how the City of Detroit deals with strays. Can't say if the number is legit or not, but it's Stiglich's left-handed way of taking a jab at this guy. We do not need this guy in the Senate. It's that simple...
