Goose Lake? Never heard of it...

56 years ago today, in 1970,  it was the final day of the The Goose Lake International Music Festival that was held in Leoni, Michigan. Over 200,000 fans attended the three day festival. Acts who appeared included, Jethro Tull, 10 Years After, Mountain, and a whole shitload of other A- and B-list bands. How is it even remotely possible that this is the very first time I've even ever heard of it?
PS - 56 years ago, today was the Babs' 17th birthday. Juss' sayin'...

A recent poll revealed that nearly 66% of adults and likely voters oppose Newsom’s executive order, signed in 2020, that’s intended to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035. So, what is he doing? Is he acting in the collective interest of his constituents, or is he trying to force-feed his personal agenda on the masses? And if - Godforfuckin' bid he ever got elected President, would he have the temerity to try to push this jackass idea on a national level? We (they) really haven't learned to be carefull who we vote for, have we?

This historic photograph (colorized by me - and it wasn't easy) by Dmitri Kessel for LIFE magazine shows American bomber-crew members relaxing and playing cards inside a Quonset hut lined entirely with pin-up photos on Adak Island during the Aleutian Islands Campaign in Alaska, 1943.
Adak Island, Alaska, part of the grueling and remote Aleutian Campaign of World War II.The Subject: U.S. service members gathered around a table inside a curved corrugated-metal Quonset hut serving as their barracks.
Thousands of magazine cutouts and Hollywood pin-up photographs completely wallpaper the arched ceiling and walls to boost morale (and give them something to do) in a harsh, isolated environment.

This is not my Father's Democrat party. My Dad, a WWII vet and lifetime (38 years on the job) Police Officer, voted Democrat his whole life. It's not a hard pill to swallow, because he was, in a real sense, a Kennedy democrat. Be tough but be fair. Be generous but not frivalous. 'Ask not what your country can do for you' kind of Democrat.
This Democrat Party as it now exists looks nothing like the party he voted in his time. Were he alive today, he would most certainly be a Reagan Republican. I'm sure of it...

Elvis Presley met with entertainer and St. Jude founder Danny Thomas in Long Beach, California, to hand over the deed to the former presidential yacht USS Potomac. Elvis had purchased the historic vessel for $55,000 intending to benefit charity, and donated it to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Can any of you tell me one thing that this Congress has accomplished in the last year or so, aside from a  few confirmations? How is it possible that John Thune can not push through something as simple as a voting act? This may well be the most worthless Senate and Congress in my lifetime. Jeez...

  1. weird as I remember when my parents went off when they "rolled" the SS fund into the general fund. (1967 or 68)as my Dad often said it was to spend it. both of them hated the idea of taking "our money" and giving it to the congress critters to spend/give away.
then in the 1980's when they started to TAX SS bennies! honest to God where they ever pissed about that bullshit.
if they where still around when they started giving it away to illegals who never paid a damn dime into it.
they would have raised hell about it. just talk with the old folks at the supermarket on SS day ( senior shopping discount day ) about it and you sure to get a earful of what they think of the assholes in congress.
and with Trump spending money like there is no tomorrow, yeah. it is only a matter of when the dollar falls. not if anymore.
and yet they, the assholes in congress wonder why most of the people loathe them ?

  2. Grateful Dead - "I used to be a fan of the Grateful Dead - then I got sober"

Seriously. I play bass, and after joining numerous pickup bands in college and afterwards, playing frat parties and the like - the bands that were always looking for a bass player at the last minute because Larry was not available - had a set list of way too much Grateful Dead which as any member of the mediocre bass players club will tell you - is incredibly easy to play by ear without a lot of practice.

  4. I think if Kennedy was alive he would be a Reagan Republican.
I agree about the Dead. I never could get into their music but I did
know a girl who liked to screw to their music. I bought her a couple albums.

  5. Ever hear of the 1970 summer time Atlanta Pop Festival ? A buddy and I drove down to it in my '66 Scout from the mountains of North Carolina. It was quite an experience to say the least! I didn't see them, but I did hear them: to include Jimmy Hendricks and Janus Joplin. Everything was a little "fuzzy" while enjoying the festival. So I can't swear to the rock stars! Supposedly the overall attendance was bigger then Woodstock. One thing I do remember is driving around the Georgia country side looking for places to eat, gas, etc. When we would ask for directions from a Georgia State Trooper they would be so cordial and respectful. We were not exactly sober at any time....

  7. Not only should Soc Sec not be cut our benefits should be doubled. The money this country wastes on foreigners is felonious and people should be jailed for life for it. Hell obama who was actually in charge of brain dead Joe gave $2 trillion in covid bailout money to thieves around the world and created inflation we'll never recover from. SENIORS SHOULD BE MAD AS HELL!

  9. The republicans should be codifying Trumps executive orders into law but they hate that he is doing anything that helps America. We have a cancer in this country infecting Washington D.C.

  10. I do give a fuck. I don't want to see America destroyed even though I won't likely live to see it. You can never get freedom back once it's gone.
