And it's such a shame too - all those poor people out demonstrating in the hot Florida sun all wasted their time protesting, too, because nothing they said or di brought on this result.
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the closure of the "Alligator Alcatraz" immigration detention center in Florida, less than a year after its opening. Established at a training airport, the facility began housing detainees in July 2025 as part of the Trump administration's immigration policies. All of the inmates - the 'detainees' - have already been trasnported to facilities outside the State, including to Newarks infamous Delaney Hall facility.
It has faced numerous lawsuits and scrutiny from lawmakers and immigrant advocates, who decried the conditions as inhumane. Concerns included inadequate medical access and inhospitable living conditions with crowded tents and sweltering heat. Ooohhh.
