'Bob' (not his real name) worked for a critical infrastructure company and was earning a six-figure salary. He secretly outsourced his programming work to a Chinese firm, paying them a small fraction of his salary to complete his tasks.
Instead of doing the work himself, Bob spent his workdays leisurely browsing the internet, watching cat videos, and using social media. His scheme came to light during a routine security audit when the company discovered suspicious VPN connections from China. Further investigation revealed the details of his outsourcing arrangement.
The employee was in his mid-40s, a "family man, inoffensive and quiet. Someone you wouldn't look twice at in an elevator." But an examination of his workstation revealed hundreds of pdf invoices from a third party contractor/developer in Shenyang.
"As it turns out, Bob had simply outsourced his own job to a Chinese consulting firm. Bob spent less than one-fifth of his six-figure salary for a Chinese firm to do his job for him."

Good for Bob!
ReplyDeleteSo many companies in the US outsource jobs about time a few Bobs got their piece of the pie!
