Have had one woman for 48 years. Great sex still. Intimacy and trust are pretty great. And let's face it, most hook ups are not with a Sydney Sweeney. More of a young Ethel Merman.
ReplyDeleteLet's consider that the rates of wedlock and having kids is down drastically since the free love movement. Also consider that the largest proponents of casual sex are the more liberal leaning times, who also happen to be to most diagnosed and most heavily medicated for psychological needs. Finally consider that every stable society and religion that has endured through time advocates long term monogamy. Correlation may not be causation but as they say where there's smoke there's fire.
ReplyDeleteMonogamy is actually a very recent concept in terms of human development. Genetic studies suggest we've had between 9x and 15x as many female ancestors as male. Throughout history, men were reasonably disposable, either as slaves or dead on the battlefield. Look at the Old Testament and how many wives (and consorts) the men had.
