Where's the Fifth Dimension when we need them?

Personally, I'm all in favor of this. Having lived ten years in the Carribbean where we never changed the clocks, I love the idea of not having to change the time on all twelve clocks we have in this house twice a year.
The Sunshine Protection Act is a proposed federal bill that would make daylight saving time permanent nationwide. If passed, it would eliminate the biannual process of changing clocks, keeping the U.S. on extended daylight hours year-round.
The Senate companion bill (S.29) was introduced by Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) with bipartisan cosponsors. In May 2026, the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced the bill. President Donald Trump has expressed public support for the legislation, urging lawmakers to approve year-round daylight hours.
In 2018, Florida passed bipartisan legislation to adopt year-round Daylight Saving Time pending federal action. Nineteen states have enacted laws or resolutions to establish permanent daylight saving time once allowed by federal statute. Under the bill, states that do not opt out will adopt the permanent time, while areas like Hawaii and most of Arizona would remain on standard time.
