Good news for beer drinkers? Sorta, but that whole 'moderation' thing...

Moderate beer consumption can offer some health benefits, but excessive or daily drinking carries significant risks...

Drinking one to two beers per day may provide several health benefits when consumed in moderation. Beer contains B vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, especially in darker varieties, which help fight free radicals and support overall health. Key benefits include:
Heart Health: Moderate beer intake may reduce the risk of heart disease and improve cholesterol levels, similar to the effects of wine.
Bone Strength: Beer contains dietary silicon, which supports bone density and may reduce the risk of osteoporosis, particularly in men and postmenopausal women.

Blood Sugar Control: Light beer may help lower the risk of developing diabetes and assist in managing blood sugar levels.
Cognitive Health: Some studies suggest moderate beer consumption may reduce the risk of dementia.

  1. I knew there were good reasons for a couple of beers every day though my cardiologist, a dot Indian, tells me two beers a day is too much. I told him I had cut back from six to eight a day in my old age and at 75 I didn't think it would shorten my like a whole lot. He has no sense of humor.

  2. Anyone >75 has pretty much beaten the average. Don't mess with a working program. And fire any doc that advises otherwise.
