At some point, don't we tire of endless sequels?

Top Gun looks set to return for a third movie — with Tom Cruise on board for a return.
A second sequel to the original hit film is in the works following the success of Top Gun: Maverick. This guy is an action junkie who thrives on trying to kill himself 50 ways to Saturday, and he certainly thinks he's ageless, so why not make another 30-40 million to make another tried-and-true but tiring sequel?
It's almost as if Hollywood doesn't have any new ideas anymore. What are they on -Fast and Furious 15? Avatar 10? And how many more Rocky movies can we handle?
It's not like the old, old days when sequels were actually serials.

The Thin Man is a prime example - the characters were endearing and likeable, without a single explosion or car chase, gun battle or plane crash anywhere. May well be the Numero uno reason I haven't been in a theater in 20+ years - and tat was to see Analyzew This. I have to live with the fact that my last flick was a DeNiro flick. Juss' sayin'...

  1. I found part two of mission impossible, dead reckoning tedious until the plane chase at the end. I hope he doesn't screw up top gun.

  2. We used to watch the entire Thin Man series during the holidays every year when TMC would stack them up one night - Myrna was hot and their chemistry was so goo everyone thought they were actually married...

  3. I find Hollywood cannot think of anything new.
