Minneapolis just keeps on making the news...
FDA officials have recalled almost 2,000 products from food and drink to beauty and pet items over fears of contamination with animal waste. Shoppers across three states have been urged to “destroy the products as soon as possible”.
Gold Star Distribution, Inc recalled thousands of items, the FDA said in an initial consumer warning in December “due to the presence of rodent and avian contamination.” The Minneapolis-based facility was found to be “operating under insanitary conditions.”
Officials added that rodent urine and faeces as well as bird droppings were found in areas where “medical devices, drugs, human food, pet food, and cosmetic products were held.” “These conditions create a significant risk that products held at the facility may have been contaminated with filth and harmful microorganisms,” the recall notice states.
The vast number of impacted products include Cheerios, Gatorade, Arizona Iced Tea and even medication like Advil, Tylenol, and Nyquil. Other snacks include Pringles, Lucky Charms Cereal, Snickers and Jif Crunchy Peanut Butter.
Shoppers can find a full list of recalled items here - all 44 pages of items. Yikes.
So they don't know if anything is bad, but throwing in that old COVID-era mantra, they say use an 'over-abundance of caution' and throw the shit away. Wow. Is anybody re-imbursing anybody for all the shit they want us to ditch? Yeah, didn't think so...
