Those damn leftie loons ya love to hate...

I actually do admire Clay Bennett's work. I disagree almost completely with the content of his uber-leftie liberal snivel, but his stylizing is unique. Look at what his message here is. We can make the country safer by handcuffing the enforcement of the laws that (should) maintain law and order in the country. Think about that. Are Libs actually calling for the removal or diminishment of all of our law enforcement personnel? That leads to one question. Y'all been bitchin' about takin' our guns away for damn near forever. If you succeeded in both, how much of your own shit would you still have after the bad guys got done with ya? Juss' askin'...

Delta Force has reportedly shifted focus to the Middle East, with Army Rangers and Air Assault units from Europe being rapidly repositioned. Sources say Delta Force operators are taking up positions along Iraq’s borders with Syria and Jordan, potentially targeting Iran-backed militias that refuse to disarm. Flight tracking data shows U.S. and British aerial refueling tankers moving into the region.
An unexplained blackout over Greek and Cypriot airspace on Monday may have been used to conceal U.S. military movements. American intelligence aircraft are reportedly operating nonstop off Iran’s coast. The CENTCOM commander has also made a sudden trip to Bahrain.
Last week, Trump warned that if Iran killed “peaceful protesters,” the U.S. was “locked and loaded and ready to go.” At the time, the death toll was in the single digits. It has now risen to 35.

Say what you will about changing tastes and such, but the demise of these restaurants and motels had everything to do with bad management and nothing to do with people not liking ice cream any more. Shame, too - they did a pretty mean Mac 'n Cheese, and their apple pies didn't suck either...

Think about this. People bitch about the weather all the time - 'It's too hot, it's too cold', blah blah blah. I like it when it's hot - humidity's another story for another day. Having lived in the Caribbean for ten years and the rest of my life prior to move here I lived in places where it got cold as fuckall in the winter, I can honestly say there's no reason to live where it gets cold.
If I've learned just one thing about dealing with the weather, it's this: If you're freezin' cold and you go in to someplace warm, you'll warm up in ten or fifteen minutes. If you're sweating balls and you go in to an air-conditioned bar in the middle of the workday, you cool off immediately. Juss' sayin'...

Muhammad Ali had a record player that played 45 rpm records built into his '59 El Dorado. In the 60s, Norelco "Auto Mignon" only held one 45 rpm record at a time, for 4½ minutes of play, potentially distracting the driver with the need for multiple record changes.
Consumer Reports claims the Norelco players were able to keep the needle on the record while driving and that the needle performance was "unaffected by rough roads, car sway, and sharp braking." However, "a steady stylus had its price, wearing down the records from the high pressure required to keep it in place. And the RCA unit's turntable ran fast, speeding up records," according to CR. In addition, there was nowhere to put the vinyl since the Norelco didn't store any records, as the RCA model did.
Car record players soon made way for the eight-track tape deck. In September 1965, the Ford Motor Company introduced factory-installed and dealer-installed eight-track tape players as an option on three of its 1966 models (the sporty Mustang, luxurious Thunderbird, and high-end Lincoln)

Do you like a strong cup of tea? I found this in Belfast a long time ago.
It's the best tea I've ever tasted. Buying it in packs of four boxes
reduces the cost dramatically.

Bill Lear, the guy who designed and built the gorgeous Learjet, also invented the 8-track. That radio in your car? Thank Bill for that. Ever hear of Motorola? He was a founding partner of that too.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what the sales stuff said. those record players did not like RR tracks or big bumps. they would skip and scratch the records. I have seen it.
ReplyDeleteSeeing such would make you pretty much older than dirt.
