I really think we didn't learn a thing from COVID. This frantic - almost manic - emptying of store shelves in advance of a snow storm is damn near childish. Bread, toilet paper, milk and eggs are the go-to items to fill your cart with, because after it snows, those items will never be available ever again.
I made it a point to look in our pantry yesterday. There' enough basic dry food in there for us to last at least a month. We can not be singular in this - take a look at your larder and tell me you aren't the same. Juss' sayin'...

I remember reading an article sometime post-COVID about the caravans of PODS trucks coming south and going back up north empty. The same was with U-Hauls. They were all down here in Florida and none up north. A guy I know got a job for about a month just dead-head driving box trucks and trailers up to Pennsylvania.

ReplyDeleteback then too. it was always the ones with the tats that became the problem. seems like any time they bring in a bunch of people from any shithole place, we end up having problems with them. as they "want" everything to be like back "home" but with our money paying for everything. I get the feeling that there is going to be a LOT of "problems" when they start looking under all of these rocks.

ReplyDeleteI did not rush out and buy a bunch of TP for Helene, but Helene taught me where the holes were in my preps. Mainly water. No power = no well = no water. I now have a couple of 55 gallon barrels of water. When the budget allows for it, I'll be getting a generator.
