I've said it before - why are most of the ICE Protestors
out-of-work, single women? And fat, too...
She made the front page of First Coast News - A Jacksonville woman is facing more than a dozen charges after allegedly attacking law enforcement officers during a confrontation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Jennifer Cruz was booked into the Duval County jail on Tuesday, Jan. 13. In a post on X, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier posted a photo showing Cruz being restrained by ICE agents in front of Mi Pueblo, a Mexican grocery store and meat market on Beach Boulevard.
"Jennifer disagrees with immigration enforcement and decided to commit a few felonies by getting out of her car and punching a Trooper in the face," Uthmeier wrote. "But unlike Minnesota, we don’t put up with this nonsense. Not today, Jennifer." Her charges include multiple counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting officers with violence and a count of threatening harm to officers, among others.
Put more succinctly, 'This ain't Minneapolis, bitch'...

Congress has passed a bill that would stop Social Security payments from going to deceased people, said a celebrating Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), sponsor of the legislation.
“I have been working for years, literally years, to target welfare fraud” Kennedy said. “In 2023 alone, for example, the federal government sent $1.3 billion - not million, billion. The federal government sent $1.3 billion to dead people.”

A new $6,000 tax deduction for Americans 65 and older could boost refunds for millions of older taxpayers, putting an average of about $670 more in their pockets this year, according to advocacy group AARP.
But some older Americans could see far more. AARP notes that taxpayers in the 22% tax bracket — roughly those earning between $44,000 and the deduction's $75,000 income cap — could save as much as $1,320 per person.
"The benefits could be vast," said Bill Sweeney, AARP's senior vice president of government affairs, in a conference call Thursday. "The bonus deduction will run through 2028 — that is four years of immediate relief at a time when older Americans are facing really high costs."

A Florida man captured a rare and surprising moment when a black bear was spotted sitting upright in a modern V-bottom motorboat, just a few feet from the shoreline. The bear appears calm, resting its paws on the steering wheel, showing natural and unposed behavior. The calm lake water reflects the boat and surrounding trees, creating a stunning wildlife scene. This close-up, handheld phone footage offers a unique look at how wildlife can occasionally interact with human spaces, but remember, wild bears are unpredictable. Always observe from a safe distance and never approach or feed them...

As far as I'm concerned, there are at least two reasons to still like Cracker Barrel. Believe it or not, there's actually one about 1/2 mile from my house, and the joint is always mobbed. Must be the old folks from The Villages.
Anyway, just because the country fried steak might be frozen, that doesn't mean it's terrible. Breaded, fried, and topped with sawmill gravy, this Cracker Barrel entree is popular enough to spawn tons of copycat recipes. The other is there Pancakes. Need I say more?

A heavy-lifting helicopter, a Yasur, had been sent to recover a smaller chopper which had made an emergency landing after encountering bad weather in the Gush Etzion area, directly south of Jerusalem, in the West Bank. It’s understood the smaller aircraft, a Yanshuf, had been damaged in the storm.
The rescue operation by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) intended for the Yasur to use the sling-load method to airlift the grounded chopper. While in flight, the damaged aircraft became detached from the helicopter that was carrying it.
