Sometimes - like in the case of what that knucklehead at Cracker Barrel tried to pull of - rebranding is a bad idea all the way around. ObamaCare - known officially as the 'Affordable Care Act - is in desperate need of rebranding itself. It's name implies something that it has been anything but. It's a perfect example of what happens all the time when you leave shit up to the government instead of the private sectors.

And time doesn't depend on either one of those any more than it depends on the minute hand of your watch. Your wife is right, either way is correct -- but your way is cleaner. ;-)

ReplyDelete1. Police officers were regularly fired if they were wearing their uniform while doing something that disparaged the uniform (posing in nudie magazines with uniform present comes to mind). The FBI agents kneeling clearly are identifying themselves as FBI. They can be fired for making it seem like the FBI identified with their political cause.
ReplyDelete2. Revolving around the sun gives us seasons and sense of time measured in years. Rotation on the axis gives us time of day. Railroads gave us time zones. The meter is based on distance between pole and equator. The mile is based on a Roman soldiers pace. Measurements are arbitrary. There is definitely an interesting interaction between speed of travel versus passage of time (made more interesting since speed is the relationship between time and distance).

At my age it’s going past like a picket fence but I’m wondering if there’s something more. The Universe supposedly has 90 percent dark matter and maybe we’re in a bog hole of it right now… doesn’t time slow down the faster you go and presumably speed up during the converse?
