Sometimes, re-branding ain't what it's cracked up to be...

Sometimes - like in the case of what that knucklehead at Cracker Barrel tried to pull of - rebranding is a bad idea all the way around. ObamaCare - known officially as the 'Affordable Care Act - is in desperate need of rebranding itself. It's name implies something that it has been anything but. It's a perfect example of what happens all the time when you leave shit up to the government instead of the private sectors.
With the best of intentions, this bill has decimated health care in our country. Maybe some of you guys can come up with a better name for it, cause I can't...

A group of fired FBI agents is going after their own former agency, alleging that their constitutional rights were violated when they were illegally fired  after kneeling during a racial justice protest in 2020.
The government is allowed to “restrict employees’ speech while performing official duties during work hours without violating the First Amendment.”

It's not on the turnpike it's on Route 1 and 9 but that's beside the point.
Is something wrong in BudLand? After the tranny fiasco of a while back, Bud and it's sister brands have taken quite a beating in sales, so the parent company - Anheuser et al, is shuttering three of it's largest breweries in the US - this one, and one each in California and New Hampshire. The company says it's because they want to 'modernize their facilities', but we call bullshit on that. Watch and see...

You really don't need to read anything from that article - the reasons are obvious. The reason I'm showing it is because someone in this house has called me a 'nit-picky fucktard' on more than one ocassion. This time, it's because I said the headline, although grammatically correct, is none-the-less fucked up. A good editor would have changed it to read ' Why everything at Dollar Tree isn't a dollar'.
Now - you tell me - is that nit picky? Me thinks not, but herself does...

Jupiter 'shepherds' the asteroid belt, preventing the asteroids from falling into the sun or accreting into a new planet. It takes Jupiter 11 of 'our' years to rotate around the sun.
Remember, it's the earth's rotation around the sun that is the basis of all of our time and measurement systems - all of which are contrived and arbitrary. How old did you say you are? What time is it?

Back in school in the late 50's and 60's we all did this. We started our day - every day - with the Pledge of Allegiance. Most of us knew it word for word, but only a very few of us knew what it meant.

Speaking of rebranding, 7-Eleven has been a wildly successful brand known for its Slurpees, Big Gulps, and its extensive coffee service, but the chain has been evolving. That has meant making some pretty big changes.
“It may come as a surprise that 7-Eleven closed 444 underperforming stores throughout the United States, as it simultaneously announced plans to open 600 new stores by 2027. In the final fiscal quarter of 2024, more stores closed than opened: 207 vs. 25. By the end of 2025, even more store closures are planned, bringing the total number of shuttered locations to well over 500 since 2024.”
So, basically, they're rebranding themselves without changing. Well played.

  2. And, speaking of better ways to write headlines, the Earth doesn't rotate around the sun, it revolves around the sun. It rotates on its axis. And time doesn't depend on either one of those any more than it depends on the minute hand of your watch. Your wife is right, either way is correct -- but your way is cleaner. ;-)

  4. 1. Police officers were regularly fired if they were wearing their uniform while doing something that disparaged the uniform (posing in nudie magazines with uniform present comes to mind). The FBI agents kneeling clearly are identifying themselves as FBI. They can be fired for making it seem like the FBI identified with their political cause.

    2. Revolving around the sun gives us seasons and sense of time measured in years. Rotation on the axis gives us time of day. Railroads gave us time zones. The meter is based on distance between pole and equator. The mile is based on a Roman soldiers pace. Measurements are arbitrary. There is definitely an interesting interaction between speed of travel versus passage of time (made more interesting since speed is the relationship between time and distance).

  7. I know you don't choose the ads, but does anyone loathe those see thru wallet pockets more than I do? That's a rhetorical question. They get dirty, make the wallet thicker and your license sticks. Other than that, they're useless because you have to take it out anyway.

  9. Relative to the amount of time spent on Earth, I guess it’s feasible that as you age it goes progressively quicker. At my age it’s going past like a picket fence but I’m wondering if there’s something more. The Universe supposedly has 90 percent dark matter and maybe we’re in a bog hole of it right now… doesn’t time slow down the faster you go and presumably speed up during the converse?

  10. Those Feebies needed to be gone since it's a cinch they were not enforcing the law. As to the tranny, the MD stands for Mentally Deficient.

  13. Obama Care started with Pelosi stating" you have to vote for it to know what's in it" a total red flag that no democrat should have vote for it, what they did was rape the people all the while getting rich. Obama has done more damage to our nation, should never had been elected the first time and fraud gave him a second term to continue his destruction of our nation all the while appeasing Islam along the way.
