Reminiscing is okay, but...

We all know people like that, and don't you think (as I do) that the people that talk the most (or actually too much) only get worse as they get older? I have a few bar buddies that I'm almost reluctant to sit next to out of fear that once they get started on any subject I'll (A) Never get a word in edge or (B) they'll stray so far off topic that I won't even remember what we were talking about in the first place.
Way, way back in the day I was working in a publishing house and got to know a number of the writers who worked in-house there. My favorite of the bunch was an older New York Jew named Howard Klein. Howard's nickname was 'Crunch Klein'. The editors loved him for his ability to go on and on forever about anything. His motto? Never say anything in ten words what can be said in a hundred. Classic...

There was a bit of a ritual back when we were kids about the writing and sending of Christmas cards. My Father - the great cataloguer that he was - would have a list of all the people who sent us/them cards the previous couple of Cristmases. He'd compare it to the list of people he and Mom had, and if they had not received a card from somebody in the previous two years, they got scratched off their list and no longer got cards fom my parents. You guys do anything like that?

Public filings and donor interviews show Biden has raised only a small fraction of what aides say is needed to build a stand-alone presidential library, raising questions about when, or whether, such a project can be completed. According to Internal Revenue Service filings, Biden's library foundation received no new donations in 2024, the final year of his presidency. The only funding that year was $4 million transferred from Biden's presidential inaugural committee.

Ran across this yeserday. When the Babs and I were in Piza back 15 or so years ago we saw a bunch of idiots doing exactly this. One thing about that town? Way too many fuckin' gypsies. Oh, and the pizza sucked too - go figure, in a town with a name like that...

Tim Walz is doing a great job reminding Americans why they kicked him to the curb last November. Asked Friday whether Minnesota’s Somali community should take “more ownership” for stealing hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, Walz responded, “So I think it’s asking us then, you know, for every crime, which of course the majority being committed by white men, asking us to do more about that.”

  1. The better question is why we ALLOW GOVERNMENT the ability to pick winners and losers in the first place. A government WITHOUT THAT POWER would be one NOBODY would want to purchase or control. Win -win for everyone.

  2. We've dropped people from the card list, some do to deaths and the rest from we don't hear from you. Thankfully the yearly we did this and that have stopped.

They got some strange 'drunk in public' laws in Texas...

What they do - if they're having a bad day down at the cop shop - is go in to a bar - any bar - and just arrest people for having a buzz...
