Please bear with me - it's a Christmas Parade, right?

A seemingly unfazed black bear crashed a Christmas parade route in Tennessee, becoming the star of the show in front of a crowd of onlookers, none of whom seem to understand how dangerous these bears can actually be. The bear made a surprise appearance at the 50th annual Christmas parade in Gatlinburg on Friday. Videos posted to social media captured stunned onlookers whipping out their phones as the mammal made the cleared road its runway, adorned with holiday lights. Crowds on the side of the roadway - which was empty except for the wandering bear - were heard yelling as the creature calmly strutted off into a parking lot.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said that the bear caught on camera has possibly gotten used to human contact and may need to be put down if it sees humans as a source of food.
“That bear is, at some point, going to come in physical contact with a human and probably have to be 'put down'' (a nice way of saying killed) for its actions, so help us keep bears wild, keep them alive, and hopefully we can enjoy seeing them in and around people with out them exhibiting any human habituation which is what you’re seeing here,” Matt Cameron, a representative of the agency said.

Mark Fitzpatrick, owner of the Old State Saloon in Idaho, has sparked both praise and backlash after offering free beer to patrons who assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in identifying and deporting illegal immigrants. The promotion, posted on November 29, went viral, attracting nearly 8 million views and widespread attention.
Since the announcement, Fitzpatrick has received numerous threats, including messages to burn down the bar and kill him. Despite this, he remains steadfast, saying the negative attention only motivates him to "double down." His establishment continues to offer promotions such as "Manly American Monday," where men who support ICE receive a free beer. The promotion has also gained significant support, with Fitzpatrick receiving encouraging mail and visits from supporters.

A Maryland middle school presented a slideshow to 6th graders celebrating “Transgender Awareness Week” where the children were given a lesson that included “advice for coming out” and “8 tips for being nonbinary.”
“A person’s gender is who they feel that they are,” middle schoolers at Westland Middle School in Bethesda, Maryland, were told last month in a video that was contained in a 12-slide presentation. “It is important to understand the difference between sex and gender so that we can better understand ourselves,” the slide says beneath the video, a video that was produced by the LGBT educational resource provider Pop’n’Olly.
Multiple slides in the presentation provide information on “what it means” to be transgender and students are then quizzed about what they learned.

Jack Kerouac reads for an audience at the Seven Arts Cafe in Greenwich Village in 1959. Kerouac is known as the "King of the Beats," a central figure in the Beat Generation, famous for his novel On the Road, and his innovative writing style was inspired by jazz and a bohemian lifestyle. He captured the spirit of post-war American counterculture through raw, stream-of-consciousness narratives about travel, spirituality, and jazz.
On the Road - His most famous work, was published in 1957, became a cultural touchstone, chronicling cross-country adventures and embodying the era's quest for freedom and authenticity. I remember vividly reading it when I was Junior in High School.. I convinced our English teacher to discuss the book some day, so he made all the guys in the class read it first. That got everybody pissed off at me - go figure, huh?
The writing method he developed - what he called Spontaneous Prose - uses long, breathless sentences, dashes, and a trance-like state to capture immediate experience. You know - kinda like the way I go on and on and on and on and on....

Howard Johnson's was famous for offering 28 flavors of ice cream. In the 1950s and 1960s, it grew to be the largest restaurant chain in the U.S., revolutionizing the industry with the franchise model. The business eventually declined due to increased competition and changing consumer preferences, with the last remaining restaurant closing in 2022. The restaurant pictured above was on Second Avenue in Manhattan, just a few blocks from my grandmother's apartment. She'd take us kids there whenever we were in the city visiting...
